    Replaces weak stock plastic tailgate section.

    very slight raise. probably so that you don't slip. can't feel them when sitting on tailgate.

    Can you put cups on it? And does the tailgate still open slow or does the weight make it open fast

    They're there to add structural rigidity. Since this panel is supposed to reinforce the tailgate it helps give the panel a little extra resistance against bowing. Too bad this isn't for a 2nd gen - I'd be all over it!
