Been looking at getting a set of sliders, but would rather have them sooner than 8 weeks. I stumbled across Mobtown's DIY kit and wanted to know if anyone had fabed up a set. I've yet to hear a single bad thing about Mobtown, but wanted to see some examples.

I guess that depends on how good you are with a welder.

I'm a decent welder, but I have plenty of friends that are certified master welders.

I am making my own set of sliders now. You need access to a tubing bender and fish-mouth cutter. It is taking way longer to fab my own set than I estimated. Plus I still will have to sand, grind and paint them. I am us My my buddy’s shop...

Sounds like a suggestion to just buy them and not think.

Plus it cost me about $250 for the steel.

I kinda wish I just bought a set. They would be on the truck now and not a long, drawn-out DIY. When they are done, it will be awesome to say I did it myself!

Looking forward to some pictures and ideas from this thread. I have a bender, notcher and welder and plan on doing the same thing. I've made several sets for a rzr but these are significantly bigger. Not sure how I want to style them yet either.

I’m not saying they don’t, but you might want to double check fitment. Even though it says 05 and up I see a lot of places state something like that, but then have a separate listing for 2016 and up. I think mobtown has the best design for mounting/strength and I’ve considered buying a set for myself and welding them since steel alone is probably 200$

So for a bolt-on set of sliders from Mobtown you're looking at $1k shipped. Even if steel costs $250 for steel tubing, the Mobtown DIY kit is $300 shipped, so all in $550. Then when you're done you know you've accomplished something. Like a lot of people on here say "Built, not bought"

Mine were under $700 shipped. Gotta catch those 15-20% sales.

Yeah, it would be nice to have some one offs but just from what you said I would rather pay someone to do it. Super cool though.

Mowing the lawn, doing house chores vs drinking a beer or two while working on the truck? Hmmm...

I did want to make my own too, but ended up buying a set locally. Mobtown’s stuff is pretty sweet, though. Just installed a front skid that is awesome and the fit was dead on.

Here's what I was thinking for the sliders:

Made from 2" Square - 0.12" thickness, ASTM A500 steel tubing. 5-8' long pieces costs about $150 around here. These can be welded up while waiting for the mounting plates to show up. They also can be made to be flat (parallel to the ground) or tilted up 20* by adjusting the mounting tubes. I'm not a huge fan of round tubing just because of appearance, so that's why I thought of square tubing.

I’ve also considered this route and gusseting the joints for strength. The only downfall is square tubing isn’t nearly as strong as round which is why that’s typically used

I’m pretty sure it’s the opposite. At least that’s what I remember when I was talking with @Mobtown Offroad the other week.

Cool, you can google and screen shot. I just did a quick search for sliders specifically and found that square is stronger in this application. Like I said, Joe can chime in and give his .02. He mentioned the reason why it’s stronger for sliders but I forget.
