    C: see above

Also pulling at angles greatly increases weird loading. See the 4 pages above where the engineers explained it. And again, this is the first time it's happened after 100s of these things have been made .... Just saying

No shit!!! That's why I thought they should all be built with updated parts.
Seems to me all those "engineers" know about leverage and how this sort of thing could happen. However being the first time this has happened in 100's I highly doubt. Just saying...

I don't. Mobtown build great stuff. Maybe most people don't do recovery with the front hitch on their midsize truck?

You're right, most people probably don't. But those who buy it to use it in that way shouldn't have to worry about it when this is what the manufacturer says. "The Mobtown Front Hidden Hitch has two solid anchors for shackles. Two 3/4″ thick plates hang 7/8″ shackles from the grille for a solid pulling point to get unstuck fast. Center 2″ receiver adds more versatility to the front of your truck. The receiver works with many aftermarket hitch accessories including D-Rings, baskets, fishing rod holders, and winch cradles. This is the most versatile hidden hitch you can get."

That's fair. And it looks like Mobtown, now being made aware of this failure for the first time, has made moves to fix the issue.

That's not how it appears to me, but go on with your brand loyalty, I won't fault you for that.

I guess I'm a little confused, because they posted in here that this is the first time they've seen this happen with their product, and OP posted that they sent him a new one with the fixes on it.

so... That sounds to me like this is the first time they've seen this problem, and they've taken steps to rectify it.

Yeah he actually ordered his hedge before OP posted about his problems. So... I don't see how mobtown is supposed to go back in time to fix hitches that were already in production before the problem started?

Not sure how your not understanding this. They shipped this out to him when they knew there was a problem with the design. So they knowingly shipped him a product they knew has issues instead of fabbing a new one for him or fixing the one they possibly had already made for him.

    Capish?

I ordered 9 days before this post started. I received the hitch 4 MONTHS LATER. They didn't go back or forward for that matter in time to fix anything.

Yeah check post #50 out. They got back to OP on or around September 28 acknowledging there was an issue and had a fix for it. So any of these shipped out after 9/28 should have been corrected. It’s now in the middle of December and they are still shipping out the faulty designed one’s? Not good!

Right, 9 days. You think they can go back in time and fix that? You ordered before OP's post, and it took mobtown time to see it get a hold of him and come up with what was going on. They can't just magically snap their fingers and have all new product or even slightly old product fixed.

The part I don't understand is why you guys think they can go back in time and fix things that were already built

What rock are you living under? You actually think that after he placed his order that they made his in the next week or two and then waited for about two and a half months to ship it? Beyond funny!

But let’s say that right after he placed his order they did make his or had one in stock and for whatever reason decided to wait well over two months to ship it to him. Even if that happened you still think it’s okay for them to ship it to him after admitting there is a design flaw that they have a solution for?

But that’s obviously not what happened here. His was made well after they came up with a solution for the design. But either way it doesn’t matter. Should have been fixed before they shipped it out almost three months after redesigning it.

sure, you're right. They waited three months to make his bumper and then shipped it without looking at anything else. That makes perfect sense to me. There wouldn't be any conceivable production or shipping delays because of the global pandemic. That would be silly.

Whatever man, I'm just trying to think logically here. But clearly you have superior intellect to the rest of us and know all of the inner workings of every fab shop in the country. Have fun with that.

Logically thinking is thinking they had this fabbed and then shipped out just a week or two after he placed his order (before they knew of the issue and redesigned it) and then it took three months to ship from the east coast?

Your right! There is a pandemic going on and it is causing delays. I know this for a fact myself as I just received another canopy from RLD and it took about three months to get. It was coming from Africa on a ship but it did take three months so I’m sure shipping something by truck from the east coast to UT can take 2 or 3 months also. You got me there!

Seriously though, we don’t know what actually happened. Would be nice if Joe could shed some light on the situation. Mistakes happen and if they simply made a mistake then hopefully they will step up to the plate and admit it and take care of him with a redesigned one.

I’ve only ordered one item from Joe before and it was faulty but they ended up shipping me a new one. Mistakes happen but how a company goes about it is what should be important for us consumers.

If you go back and read the whole post including notice of the dates you might see things more clearly. Had I received this in September/October no big deal. It's almost January, it took all of about a week to ship cross country.

Is there a shipping date available, that would show when it was first shipped? Maybe through a tracking number?

That would help clarify whether it took 3 months of ship time during the pandemic, or if the product was shipped after the modification was available.

We were made aware of a suggested design improvement before you received your part. We didn’t finish said design improvement after updates and testing until the middle of October. HE IS LITERALLY THE FIRST PERSON TO BEND ONE, EVER. We build these in very large batches. To go back and fix a bunch of them and scrap a bunch of completed parts just doesn’t make sense with ONE failure in 5 years. We just finished getting through the older batch of parts and here on our will be the updated design. Your part can be installed and if you manage to bend it, I’ll replace it. Just like we did with his, it was replaced almost immediately under warranty. Warranty replacements take priority and are done at no cost to the customer.

First off, this is also a safety hazard so no matter what the situation is, Mobtown should not have shipped any more out knowing that this could happen until they had a fix for this design flaw. Second, Mobtown said they had a bunch made and make them in bunches. The website currently says there is a 4 week lead time. I looked at these previously before I got my SSO bumper and there also was at least a month of a build time listed. And it took Mobtown around 3 months to send this current one out. Could you explain why it took him around three months to get his if this is something you already had made and sitting around in bunches? Thirdly, you say it would cost too much to fix the ones you supposedly had already made. This is only a $399 part so how much could it really cost to fix it? And whatever the cost is you think it’s okay to send out a part that you know had failed (no matter how many) versus cutting your loses and doing what is right and fix it before you send any more out? You obviously agreed that it needed to be redesigned or you wouldn’t have redesigned it.

Sometimes you just have to do what’s right no matter what the cost.
