With our reinforced aluminum plates they will handle quite a bit of impact. But like you said, stuff happens. It really depends on the type of rocks that you will be driving over. If they are sharp I would recommend going with steel Because the sharp rocks could potential he puncture and tear the aluminum. It would take quite a bit to do that though.

Thank you for the quick response! Mostly sandy stuff, but I plan on getting into the Rockies with it in the coming years. I won't professionally rock crawl with it, but do want to go on some trails (first 4x4 and love camping in BFE). Let me think on it and you'll have an order soon.

Might help to find a thread on here asking guys that wheel that area their advice or opinion on what to do. Where I am you have to do steel, rocks are jagged as crap.

I like how you call them protection plates, making your truck safer for the wife and get approval. :hattip:

Mobtown Offroad is now offering non-reinforced "standard duty" skid plates for your 2nd and 3rd Gen Toyota Tacoma. Doing so allows us to reduce our price drastically so we can be more competitive in the marketplace. We will continue to offer our reinforced "heavy duty" skid plates as well.

We were also able to lower the price on our powder coat on all future orders.

Please visit our website to check new prices at mobtownoffroad.com

    Thank you.
If you have any questions feel free to contact us here, email us at team@mobtownoffroad.com, or call us at 833-MOBTOWN.

Your site now says oil plate access in all materials, so I’m guessing aluminum has it for sure right? what changed, design? Sorry for the necro thread, but @Lindsay @ Mobtown Offroad started it.

Lots of changes were made since then.

All third gen front skids come with oil filter access door standard on both materials
