I'm surprised no one has come in and reality checked the people that are requesting these....

Do you actually plan on offering a warranty with these or sell them as is?

"Light offroading" means different things to different people, it would be pretty shitty if someone exceeded their use, damaged the body of their truck and came back on here crying about it because they didn't understand aluminum sliders are more pointless+worthless than aluminum skids.

Who offers a warranty on armor, aside from manufacturer defects? None that I'm aware of, because the whole point is to beat the shit out of it. I think anyone interested is well aware that these can't take near the abuse of steel, and they're fine with that.

I don't know what happened to the quote at the beginning of this maybe it got deleted or maybe because I have them on ignore, but I digress.....

That's my point, captain obvious. Anyone even trying to "beat a little shit out of them" is going to be sorely disappointed and will likely wind up on Tacomaworld crying about how their aluminum sliders don't hold up.

Yeah, I'm sure everyone that is requesting these are well aware they are probably going to be paying around $1000 for a set of glorified tube steps.

$100 bucks says 9 out of 10 people "interested" will not be "fine" with that when they see the outrageous cost and promptly drop out.

Also, if he is looking for 5051 tubing he's likely to have a hard time since it's expensive & uncommon to make 5xxx series aluminum extrusions.

But don't take it from some random clown on the internet, take it from these clowns.

For my wants and needs, aluminum would be perfect for my build. Not for protection from rocks or holding the weight of the truck, but from protection against larger sticks and the occasional saplings that I may encounter. Im sure these would be better than your everyday tube steps. Several companies make aluminum under armor, so I'm sure aluminum sliders will work in the same sense. I'd pay the price.

Haven’t the expedition overland guys been using aluminum sliders from CBI for 2 expeditions now? I think there’s a clear understanding that these won’t be as strong as steel sliders.

Um I hate to break it to you guys but your opinion is wrong. You have to do what that guy does because he's so hardcore and steel is the only way.

No, I'm just offering advice based on actual experience offroading with and without sliders.

If someone wants something light weight for "light duty use" or brush guards or whatever, there are much cheaper ways to get there. For example: tube steps.

Or if you are insistent on having something that looks like a slider but doesn't have the functionality of them, why not just have a fabricator make a set using thin wall HREW and sheet metal for the mounts? You would have something that costs less than normal sliders and is light weight. Though the savings would probably be minimal since I assume most of the costs are labor for sliders.

Are these going to be built the same construction as your steel sliders?

Would they be available with the filler plates? Just makes a little better standing platform when getting stuff on and off the roof rack.
