So, let's say I have my ski rack mounted on here, what's to keep someone with an allen wrench from just unbolting the bars and taking my rack/skis, etc.? I'm looking at the original pic

Well, nothing but who is walking around with the exact size allen key to do such a crime? We can provide security hardware if people prefer it.

Have these been tested with a roof top tent? I'm really interested in this, but 2 adults+tent seems like it might be pushing the weight limit?

They're rated to 500lb at rest, as in parked.

I am installing a Roof Top Tent. Since my Tacoma will not be undegoing the type of trails you guys are used to I should be fine. I will run all over the island to different camp sites not off road trails. 500 pounds at rest... well hopefully it should resist that and probably more (I hope it does). If it does not.. well then I just install my bike racks... :(:(:(:(

It will hold 500lbs at rest no issues, we tested it at a much higher failure rate. But we are comfortable at 500lbs.

We designed them with the thought in mind that people would put a RTT on them. The weight limit for the pair is with something resting on the dead center of each bar (worst case scenario). A RTT is mounted to 4 points closer to the outside (near the brackets) so you will be fine.

We just didn't want people putting a hot tub on them, though I'm sure someone will try anyway (please send pictures).

Disclaimer: Mobtown Offroad is not responsible for any damage resulting from mounting hot tub on your Bed Bars. But please send pictures of the carnage anyway!

@Mobtown Offroad very interested for my white water kayaks; and/or camping gear. Since I will be using with a taller set of kayak racks (Trac rac for Tacoma) need to know:

Bracket width in the bed rail and bracket height sitting on top of bed rail. Please advise. Thank you!

I don't think so but I also haven't had a chance to check. It was designed for the 2nd gens.

Thanks- length of the cross bars, height of the flange- understood.

I need the width of the braket- the one with the Mobtown logo- as it sits in the bed channel. With a short bed, I only have so much bed chanel- just need to know how wide that part of the braket is- how much bed chanel it takes. Thanks!

Oh, gotcha. The brackets are 6" wide where theyster bolt to the cleat rail and the steel is 3/16" thick. They're fully adjustable as in you can slid the assembly back and forth the length of the cleat rail.
