I actually think it might work to put the bolt through from the inside, but the opening on the L-clamp is larger than the bolt size so I'd feel like it needed another washer over there too, and I'm not sure the bolt is even long enough to handle that much.

Can you try that, put the bolt in from the inside pointing out and put the nut on the outside?

Ok, took off the wire box and put on the L bracket with the bolt on the inside:

    IMG_20160605_195509.jpg

Here's how far out the wire box bolts stick out with the bolt on the inside. I tried threading on the nuts and I feel like this will work ok, there's enough coming through on the foremost bolt that I could get a good few turns out of it. (Note I didn't tighten down the L bracket bolt all the way, this isn't what it should look like when properly tightened):

For reference, here's how far out they stick with the L-bracket removed:

    IMG_20160605_200254.jpg

So I think this will work. My only concern is this split washer sitting on the large L-bracket opening. Will this hold well, or should we add a flat washer between the split washer and the bracket?

It'll hold just fine. You'd actually be doing more harm than good when adding a flat washer. The split lock will bite the steel and stay in place. When using a flat washer, it doesn't really have anything to bite and the flat washer could spin.

Ok, we'll go with the inside bolt under the wire box then. Not sure if that'll be the same for all DCSBs, or if mine is just different for some reason.

Thanks for bringing it to our attention. It may have come up on other installs, you're just the first that made us aware. Glad we got it all worked out.

I'm pretty sure it doesn't matter which way that bolt goes. It's the square washer that's the issue. I think there is clearance for the bolt itself. Maybe I'm wrong but I just installed a set this weekend and didn't see how flipping the bolt would help.

Also @Mobtown Offroad you still need the square washer since that is one of the large holes in the frame.

I must be misunderstanding him then. I thought he was meaning the end of the bolt was hitting the back of the box so flipping the bolt solved the issue.

    @cheuer
Is the bracket from the box sitting on the square washer when reinstalling? If so, that is not a huge deal either. You should still be able to get the stud back through the hole and the nut over the stud and tight.

Yeah, the end of the bolt was hitting the back of the box, and I couldn't get the wire box through far enough to get any nuts on it. Flipping the bolt seems to make a huge difference.

I think he meant where would he have to go near his address to get them.

Closest terminal to your zip code is:

    Central Transport
    2765 RIVERSIDE AVE
    BLOOMINGTON, CA 92316
