We are currently doing a group buy on everything we make to the main island where everyone splits shipping. Also, storage doors when bought as a pair is free shipping right now. We offer military discounts but can only be used on non-sale items.

I was just on your website checking out all of your products. I'm thinking about buying the security doors but only because the stock ones fly open when anything heavy is in them. I really like the extra storage capabilities of the tuffy box but not for the money.

If you guys are this good at fabricating then why don't you offer a tuffy style box? For a cheaper price obviously. I can't imagine they are the only ones allowed to manufacture this product. Patent issues? Or what? I know if you offered a similar product for less money me and a lot of other people would be willing to fork up the cash for it.

I will never understand why toyota made these boxes so shallow and with such a POS door!

We never set out to be the cheapest company. We first try to fill a hole in the market. If we can't find something unique, then we try to better design a similar product. Adding more engineering, more functionality, better aesthetics, or a unique feature. Maybe we don't always succeed, but we really try not to just copy what everyone else is doing.

We looked at making something like the Tuffy Box. It fell into the category of something that we couldn't add much too. We would pretty much just be copying what they already make and trying to do it cheaper (which we really didn't think we could do anyway). Instead, we decided to offer an option that was more secure than the stock doors and less money than the Tuffy Box.

Trying to always be the cheapest means you make cheap products. You have to cut corners. That's not who we are or who we want to be. We aim to make the best stuff available.

Ok. I obviously don't know what it would cost to make a box the same style as the tuffy one. My thought was that because they are the ONLY ones who make this style box that their profit margin is probably huge! Because they have no competition. I wasn't suggesting you make the box cheaply. Maybe I should have stated that you could make the price more reasonable. But the product you do make seems great! But the tuffy box is way over priced I feel. (Again I don't know the cost to produce such a product) But it does serve a duel purpose of security and increased storage capacity.

My original post was a long way to ask a simple question.

"Why don't you make this style of a box?"

You've answered that. I appriciate the product you do make. It's obvious many others do to. Keep up the good work guys!

This has been tried with another vendor, with apparently failing results:

    Thank you sir.

The Tuffy Box might be a little over priced, but not grossly. It really depends on the level of craftsmanship they put into it. To do it on a small scale, it would be hard to bet their price. If we wanted to outsource the production overseas and produce 1000's at a time, then maybe we could bet their price. Volume is really the key to making it inexpensive. We didn't really think we could do the volume on it to be able to offer it cheaper.

    Jesse,

All locks are keyed alike so all I need from you is your original 4 digit order number, or a last name from the order and we can send another key.

What did you use for the 3 slots on the door down at the bottom?

The formed "z" pieces go in there to pivot the door. Our doors actually include 2, not 3 like the picture shows. The middle one was a wasted piece which added unnecessary cost.
