Hey where'd everybody go? Things were going like hotcakes for awhile then its like someone poured water on the coals. We'll have a hard time drumming up interest if we just shut things down. I for one want to see this venture succeed. I've had my tailgate apart and know how flimsy it is. I think we only had seven interested at last count - I think we need at least ten for Morton to put things in motion. Let's get motivated and get three or thirty more.

Bumpity. 3rd Gen owners should look at the pics of the disassembled tailgate. It's weak as fuck. Express your firm commitment to purchase one today by adding your name to this thread.

I have total intentions on getting one of these with some time. My problem is I have another project aligned first to complete, and thats where the funds are allocated. Once that project is done, I aim on a tail gate reinforcement and those storage box covers. So my interest may not directly assist with the current required 10, but it will be coming down the pipe.

Hopefully these are viable by then.

My 3rd gen has already sold one limited. Perhaps I can talk Johnny into getting a set. Heck, we are the best sellers for this mod - well, once you do the research the mod actually sells itself. Most 3rd gen owners are not aware of just how shoddy the guts of their tailgates really are. Just a little talking on our part should generate more than sufficient interest, especially among bikers and anyone else who uses their 3rd gen like a truck is intended to be used. How, in good conscience, could any Toyota Corporate representative or salesperson infer that the tailgate is only certified to support its own weight? I dread the day when a tailgate fails while someone is sitting on it. If this gets out it will be worse than when Toyota cut the bottom off Prius gas pedals because they allegedly got in the carpet/floor mats. For heaven's sake don't let a forklift operator drag a loaded pallet off your tailgate, it will literally rip the inner skin right off the tailgate. How many of us haul riding lawnmowers in the back of our Tacos? Do you remove the tailgate to load/unload it - that is what Toyota Corporate recommends! Did we buy a pig in a poke?

Well, with Little Mule and Stan23 (if he was serious) we just met the minimum requirement to get this venture started. JowyByo said earlier that Mobtown will have a 3rd gen in the shop next week so we should be good to go for the first batch of ten, if my figures are correct. I guess we wait for the PMs containing the invoices and shipping costs. Can't wait to get the finished product.

I believe we will only be offering the ribbed version of the tailgate skin for 3rd gens. They are far far more popular, stronger, and just all around more badass.

    Stay tuned.

    I'm still in.

Will the cap be flush with the other side caps on the bed, or is it going to sit lower? The reason I ask is I have the factory tonneau cover and I need to make sure it's still going to function properly. I know it's not entirely "water proof", but I still want to retain some measure of usefulness out of it.

Bump bump. Seriously guys, the tailgate is a hollow shell. Don't be fooled by the thickness thereof.
