    Doesn't look like it as it will create a gap instead of flat around the outside edges.

    How much weight and use can the smooth plate withstand? The tail gate will be the main point of entry and egress for our habitat, and I need the gate to withstand the likes of my 200lb and two boys' abuse.

    I would like to throw down some grip tape to make it a bit less slick with wet shoes. Then again. How high to the ribs protrude from the plate?

    The smooth plate will withstand a ton too. I had it on my truck and abused the living hell out of it.

    They protrude about 3/16" above the surface.

    They can take a beating..

    Sliders and an full AAL kit were in the back of my truck for about 2-3 months, smashing up against the tail gate. Currently have step tubes hitting it.
    It's also withstood fire gear, fire equipment and numerous other things. I've had it on the truck since last april.
