I've had a set of Mobtown sliders in my garage for 3 months or so now, it's been too damn hot to want to work on installing them until recently. I had a go at it this morning and ran into a problem. It looks like one of the welds on the frame is getting in the way of the sliders. There is about 1/4 - 1/2" that the slider needs to move towards the rear of the vehicle, but can't because the weld is in the way.

Anybody have any ideas? From what I'm seeing, the only real option is to either grind, cut, or bend the steel on the rock slider out of the way a little bit to get over that spot. I've circled the spots in red that are causing the issue in the photos.

I would grind it to fit than repaint. (The slider).

I know there was a brief manufacturing problem on the long beds but I'm not sure what you have going on here is that.

    Any insight @Mobtown Offroad ?

does turning tires to black wall out count? How bout added snug top rebel.
Is there any wiggle room when the bolts are loose, can you shift the whole slider over an 1/4 inch?

I'd shave the metal on the slider before I grinded the weld on the frame

As @solscooter stated, we ran into a slight tolerance issue in the Toyota frames on the third gens. It was very hit or miss and usually the passenger side only. Our fix was to remove 1/4" from end of the flange. We had to fix a couple for different people. Either cut off with a band saw, sawzall or cut off wheel or grind it down with a right angle hand grinder and course flapper wheel or grinding stone. Then repaint the exposed steel edge.

Sounds good, I should be able to manage that. Just wanted to confirm that was the direction to take.

    Thanks all!

Another fun fact about mobtown sliders is that if you do jack from the slider, the slider will hit the pinch weld! So my question is if you do use these for how they are intended how bad is it going to dick up my truck? I will post picks later

In my experience when driving over a rock or hard service and you don't have the ground clearance, this is this first spot it hits. Notice how the slider is touching the pinch weld. This is slow and steady pressure. What happens when 3500 lbs slides straight down onto the slider?

It's got a cop motor, a 440-cubic-inch plant. It's got cop tires, cop suspension, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas.
    Interesting....

Whats the discount on his used sliders? :D

His were a DCLB. But yes, I'll be reselling them once I make sure they're in good shape. Might get the powder redone if it's tore up.
