Soooooo......I’ve been staring at my Mobtown IFS skid in my basement since May. I got some downtime today and started to install it, but ran into some issues.......

Two of the 12mm bolts snapped when removing the factory shield and the remaining two are rough looking. Does anyone know the specs so I can order two more?

Also I tried to hand thread one of the 12mm ones into the rear cross member and it wasn’t going, so I probably need to chase those threads with a tap. Anyone know what size?

So uhhhh, its normal to have to take the tcase crossmember braces off on a 5th gen 4Runner to install the trans skid?

I wouldn’t be surprised. In theory you should be able to unbolt the t case skid and leave the crossmember in place, but I could see everything needing to be undone. Whenever I install I get everything bolted up loosely and then tighten it down into place.

    I think that’s what you’re asking/saying anyways.

Not quite what I mean. The 5th gen T4Rs have additional braces from the T case crossmember to the side rails. It appears that they have to be removed when i mocked the trans skid up...i'm sure they aren't that structural, but....i didn't really want to have to remove them...

OH you’re talking about those factory bar things. They come on the third gens too. Yes they’re supposed to be removed.

See above @AR15xAR10. We had this conversation in the nova thread a month or two ago about removing those.

It goes in front of the trans. I had the braces put on the skid and I had to cut sections out of them because It wouldn’t go up and it’s still a half in to inch lower that’s the crossmember.CBB819A1-74D1-4E12-BA6D-E5C6BE178CF5.jpg 0586A998-521D-4604-A596-DD368636D4F3.jpg

The trans skid sits perfectly flush with the cross member. If that urd pipe hangs below it at all it’ll interfere. It looks like you need to cut more of the bracing out.
