lol couldn't do it alone. Definitely will need an extra hand. Or maybe a jack or something.
I was doing it while laying on my creeper with the skid on my chest, even on the ramps very minimal space to move. The front portion won't be a problem its just the rear of the skid where it bolts up is a bitch to get to.

Should the transmission and transfer case skid be installed first before the front one or no?

A jack certainly helps but I too have installed them on a creeper, with the truck on ramps and skid on my chest. It is tough, but can be done with some patience.

I recommend following the order of operations on the instructions and keep all bolts and nuts loose until everything is in place, then go through and tighten.

Just my luck the day I go to do it haha.

Not mad dude sorry if it came off that way. I'm very happy with them too, great quality just too heavy to do alone without jacks or something to hold it while installing the bolts.

I didn't check the date of the above posts so thought they may be old.
So figured sucks if they are no longer up.

Terrible timing lol. Seriously though, and this goes for anyone. Call me when you have a problem, I always answer the phone. I don't often see tags on the forum on the weekends. I literally just got in and got the kid to bed, sat down to finish this up and then saw your post.

    Appreciate the dedication dude.

I figured it would be posted on here so that's why I came here.
Now that I read the instructions it also answers my question about the factory bolts not being long enough. The original brackets get removed and I'm guessing the skid works to support it?

On the front skid, you remove the stamped metal brackets that the factory plate was attached to. Save the hardware because it gets reused to install our front skid plate.

To install the transmission and transfer case skid plate, you don't reuse the bolts and nuts in the transmission crossmember. You will use the supplied longer grade 8 bolts, washers and nuts. Back the factory bolts out so the end of the bolt is flush with the face of the crossmember. Get the skids in place, then remove one bolt at a time. Remove the bolt, insert the replacement longer bolt, repeat 3 more times.

the other two are probably a lot easier to install with it on ramps as they are no where close to as heavy as the front skid haha.

Can the front skid be installed first then the other two or no?

You can install the front, then the other two. The front skid is certainly a bear to do alone. 63lbs

When installing the other two, it is easier to install the transmission one with the front skid plate hardware where the first two are loose, then the hardware on the "belly" are not installed so the front skid plate hangs down. The transmission skid plate goes on top of the front skid plate. If you have the front tightened up, it is hard to install the transmission plate.

So I might just get my mechanic to do the front one. as it's a bit much to do alone. That or I'll try going with a jack.

Your call. It really can be done with a floor jack and patience.

I have assembled many of things by just looking at the picture on the box because pictures never lie. Seriously, an entire wooden swingset from Lowe's. haha

I can speak from experience. Having installed my skids (from the GB) twice. Once by myself with no floor jack and then a second time with a floor jack and a buddy positioning while I was under the truck. I can say spend an hour and a 12 pack of beer for you and your buddy to share. Super easy and a lot less profanity will stream from the bottom of your truck.

Skids def need an extra hand, I used a transmission jack for each plate which made it easy.

It's not as much fun without curse words, bloody knuckles, tools thrown across the yard, you cursing the Vendor and a sit down for 10 minutes questioning why you ever wanted to mod your truck to begin knowing fully that you'll have all these grand wheeling plans and every trip will get cancelled because your wife or kids will consume your happy time.

instructions are just an engineers opinion anyways.

The amount of times I've looked at instructions at work for switch gear or something and I'm just like wtf are these morons smoking at Eaton/Siemens etc
Just reading it and I'm like why the fuck am I going to go through that struggle?
