Tailgate hole are square. Upgraded hardware kit contains bolt receivers that are round. Anybody install them? if so, what is best method? What is correct drill bit size to get them in there tight?

Pretty sure they want you to drill those out to round. I got the upgraded hardware too, but didn't use it. Works fine

Use a step drill bit, doesn’t take much pressure. Rounds em out just enough and a rivet tool makes it a 30 min job. The hardware allows some good tightening for a better fit (pulls the skin down flat) whereas the plastic square threads pull out easily.

Okay, will give it a try. I am unclear on the rivet tool and how it grips the fitting, and further, how it works to bed the fitting in the tailgate, but I'm sure it will all become apparent once I get out in the shop and lay it all out. Yeah, I was popping some of the square plastic receivers out by hand and I was like, "Are you shitting me? THIS is suppose to hold that new piece of metal?"

@Mobtown Offroad is an awesome vendor. Ive had responses from PMs on Sunday at 11pm. Just ask, you never know what you will get back

That said, I have the upgraded hardware on my tailgate, but its been forever since I installed it, so I dont know the answer to your question
