I figured that was going to be your backup plan.

Might be another one this fall. Depends on if anyone wants it. I'll be good probably for a while for what I need to do suspension wise on the trucks.

    Only the safest!!

I need to finish getting my cb stuff.

Do it. I have to run a new 18' antenna cable to the back of my bed rack and ground the rack to the frame, so I'll need to calibrate and test with anyone who has a CB already set up. My CB has a built in SWR meter but I still prefer to use the old school manual one. I'll bring it. If I have time, I'll also be installing my new upgraded PA speaker somewhere behind my front bumper. It's all wired up with an amp, I just need to find a home for it and drill a couple holes for the mount base.

I don't know fully what else I need though. I need the spring and another wire or something. Hey @Milota95, wanna check out what I have and make some time to head up to the truck stop and finish picking everything up?

You need this for a basic setup:
    • CB and microphone
    • Antenna
    • Power wires for ground/positive for CB
    • Antenna cable (either 9' or 18') - 9' cables are usually not long enough if you're running it through the cab and you have a front CB install
    • Antenna mount (separate unless you're getting a magnet mount antenna)
    • Ground wire depending on what type of antenna you get, and where you are installing it. Magnet mount antennas don't require it. You'll need to ground your antenna mounting plane to your chassis if you are mounting on a back bumper, bed rack, etc. just to make sure you have a strong ground plane. Check manufacturer instructions, but you can usually make one of these out of a decent gauge and shielded power wire with multi-strand (no solid core).
Hook it all up, then tune it with the SWR meter so you don't blow the radio. If you key the mic too much and aren't tuned, you'll fry the radio.

So this is all I have plus a 4' Firestik.

I presume I need the antenna cable, spring and the grounding wire. I have some grounding wire, just need the cable and spring.

You have the antenna cable (it's attached to the SWR meter box on the right). You don't use the SWR meter inline when using the CB, just for tuning/testing. Whatever you mount that antenna mount to will need to be grounded. Where do you plan to mount the antenna spring?

You don't have to do a spring, it's an old school line of thinking.

I recommend the spring, especially if it's going to be on a bed rack up high (recommended as high as possible on the truck) so you don't catch it on trees. Get the heavy duty spring, too, and the mount. Grounding your bed rack is easy.

I found my SWR meter the other day so I'll bring it. Looks like @a.smo has one, too. We'll just get clear of any taller houses and powerlines so we can properly tune. An open parking lot is always best to really dial it in.

Also it's really important to not tightly coil up any extra antenna cable when stuffing it out of sight. Make big long loops if necessary, or no loops at all.
