I think I can afford it as long as the installation price doesn't kill me

you can do it yourself man. it won't be that bad plus you will learn a lot and when something goes wrong you will be able to find the problem

+1, I couldn't agree more. I learned a ton when I started tearing into mine. If you have some basic hand tools, jack stands, and a jack, then I say take a shot at it. Worst comes to worst, you can reassemble what you took apart and take it to a shop if you feel like you can't handle it.

It is so easy to do yourself I am a car audio installer not a mechanic and it was the first lift I have ever done it took me about 4 hours to install with the new uca. Not bad at all the best advice I can give is if you are installing g new ucas grab 2 new bolts from Toyota and just back the old ones out a couple inches and cut it off and pull out the other side. For some reason they didn't leave room to pull it out the side they put it in through without bending metal.

Unfortunately, I don't have a picture of my truck on hand but it's bare stock and I definitely want to build it up, so far I'm thinking a 3" lift with a cat-back exhaust and cold air intake, like the OP I'm on a budget as well, any input would be greatly appreciated

i would save your money on the cold air intake. you are not going to see any noticeable gains as far as mgp and hp go. just how our trucks are lol but then again just my .02
