Welcome to TW! For us to give proper recommendations, we need to know what your intended use of the truck is. Pavement only use, fire roads, technical trails , camping, ect are different purposes requiring different equipment. Maybe hook up with some of your local folks, do a few light trails, and start realizing how you want use it.

I plan to use it for some trails and a bit of off-roading but most pavement use

A good jack and tire changing tools, portable compressor and something to store it in, either toolbox or tubs for storage and tonneau.

Straps to secure things, love my cargo net.

Cloth or leather interior? Clazzios make a nice upgrade and are easier to clean than cloth, dust and mud wipe off.

All weather floor mats like Husky liners to keep the interior easy to clean.

Sliders with cover plates make good steps and provide rocker protection offroad.

    Like, so many.
    Tires
    Bed mat
    WeatherTechs
    Hondo Garage radio knobs
    Pull off that air dam
Get a tow hook from an OR

You can probably do all of that for $1200.

Hmmmm depends on what you want to do with the truck really. It doesn't need much.

I like the Hondo Garage knobs
    Expedition Essentials TPAM
Maglight and holder on the seat
Vehicle OCD glove box and center console organizers.

    Like, so many.
If he’s doing some trails, he’s definitely gonna want to upgrade those tires.

Go to your nearest bank, have them give you all of that in $1.00 bills....

Go to your nearest strip club, find the hottest chick you can find....

    Enjoy.

    1) WeatherTech Floormats ( front/rear )

    2) OCD center console and glovebox organizers

    3) DMM mount to hold phones and other items from FreshMexicanTaco

    4) Upgraded radio knobs ( Hondo )

    5) Bed mat with rail tie downs

    6) Bed cover of some sort ( lots of options )

    7) Portable air compressor to air back up from trails

    8) Recovery strap or two ( NO tow strap, you don't want metal in the straps )

    9) In-Channel AVS vent visors for all four windows

    10) Window tint all windows

    11) Nerf bars vs Sliders... the both provide some door ding protection in parking lots. They both help getting in/out for shorter folks. Sliders are designed more as armor for more serious off-roading. Nerfs offer some protection tion, but lower your clearance just a bit. Sliders are far more expensive than Nerfs.

These are basics for conveniences. After these, it comes down personal choices and aesthetics.

If mostly pavement I would start with Meso's Total Tail Light stage 2, his puddle lights, and his Ultimate Turn Signals. That's about 1/2 your $1200.

Lockers. Plural. My 2018 TRD Offroad came factory with a rear locker and I installed an ARB twin air compressor, the biggest one they make, and a front ARB air locker.
