Greetings! I have a 2020 Toyota Tacoma TRD Off-Road Double Cab Short Bed Automatic Transmission. I'm wanting to do a few things to my vehicle but I don't know where to start as I've never modded a vehicle before. I'm looking to get a chunky off-road tire, a 2 to 3-inch lift, off-road suspension, and steel bumpers. Please leave your suggestions below, thanks!

welcome . Are you ready to experience some of the downside of what you’re planning like possible vibes, lower gas mileage, poorer acceleration ? The upside is it looks good . If yes then.......
It’s going to get expensive quick. People here will ask you what’s your budget. What kind of off-roading . others will say it’s been discussed here before and google is your friend.

There's no shortcut for these mods. Do the research, take your time and figure out what works for you. It's the only way to truly do it right, in a way that works for you. If u want someone else to build your truck, take it to 4wp or some other builder

Just don’t forget to get ECGS bushing installed regardless of the kind of lift you plan to avoid front vibes. If I have the funds, I’d go with kings .Buy once and cry once .

All the information you're looking for is contained within this forum. Search around, check out the build threads, and mimic the best mods you see on other people's trucks.

Only direction I'll offer, which is solely my opinion... keep your lift under 3in. Over 3in is likely to require a drop bracket lift, which is a whole can of worms. Opinions will vary...

Again, my personal opinion, an extreme lift is not needed on these trucks. Lift =/= big tires. A lift does not solve tire clearance issues. CMC and trimming will...

Edit: Welcome to the forum. Your wallet is in serious peril.

What are your needs? I’m using 4x4 everyday for work and messed up by getting a spacer lift just because it was cheaper and it worked on my previous solid axle truck. It was a mistake. Do it right the first time if you are actually going off road.

And I’m sure there’s more I’m missing lol
I must be the “lucky one”. I’m lifted 2 1/2 inches all around with no vibes, gas mileage is within 1-2 mpg of stock and acceleration changed none.:notsure:
To be honest, it’s 10x better than stock ever was. Of course just my opinion anyway.

Common misconception that lifting will ruin these trucks or have bad downfall side effects lol. I’m not calling you out or starting a debate here either. Just offering constructive feedback

Am I the only one that thought this thread would be about moderator suggestions? I came in to nominate @Hobbs for the next open slot. Oh, well.

OP, use your truck and figure out what you want. Then do a ton of research. It takes a while to do it right and that all starts with figuring out what right if for you and how you use your rig.
