Little of this and a little of that
I haven't really made it that far yet other than a quick trip around the neighborhood but so far it seems sturdy.

Embarrassed to say I haven’t moved forward at all. Have all the parts to install Shane’s iPad mini dash kit but have been to busy to deal with it.

Are you still running this setup? I'm debating on the techdeck or one of these seat bolt mounts. I'm mounting 1.5lb iPad, but I was hoping to "hang" it off the bottom of the techdeck and not the top so it sits lower in the cab and doesn't block the HU.

Definitely still have the Tech Deck. Its solid, and not going anywhere. I found out that the tablet setup didnt work for me.

I would get the extreme version, or the non standard one.

So seen a few people ask, I plan on trying to figure out this mount for my Microsoft Surface. Just wondering how much vibration or rough road conditions effect it. I have my phone mounted to the hand hold forward of the steering wheel which is great, but want to run navigation and monitoring stuff on the surface when I'm driving long drives.

There is a little as expected but I don’t move fast enough Offroad to make it difficult to drop pins or zoom in and out.

I am a mostly "road overlander" so I am not too worried I suppose, guess I need to pull the trigger. I plan on driving about 2500 miles this fall/winter, figure it would be good to have my navigation on there. Great post BTW. Does the seat need to be in a specific position? Usually I have the seat all the way forward wedging a cooler against the glove, also so the dog can sit on the front seat and not worry about her falling off the seat if I have to break quick. I suppose wedging it between the center console and the seat helps a bit too huh?

Seat can be in any position and the further forward it is the more stable the mount becomes. Sounds like a fun trip coming.

fantastic! Sounds like a winner! I retired from the Navy last summer and road tripped about 8000 miles for my "post Navy celebration." Realized I spent over 2 decades seeing the world and NEVER saw THIS country.... so figured it's time. It was honestly one of the best things I've ever done ever. So seeing stuff like this to increase quality of life is always a plus! Thanks again man!

Saw the world through a haze grey frame? Veteran here too so I get it. If you swing through the St. Louis area let me know, I keep a large hobby shop in the back that I let travelers and friends use for upgrades and general maintenance to save on labor.

Any particular reason you used a double ball joiner and a double socket arm? Looks like it would mount directly to the original ball. Or was it to have more articulation?

You could easily go without it but I wanted it to be slightly higher and my wife kept moving it to use while on the interstate and I was concerned that because I could still see it I be ticketed as a distracted driver.

    Zombie thread..
I purchased all the stuff to make the same setup as @G.T.
    [IMG] [IMG]
Had to slide the weathertech underneath before mounting though. Looks pretty good, I will put my tablet on tomorrow and take it to work in the woods and see how much it shakes. Any tips for controlling that? Thanks for the easy parts rundown.

I flipped the base bracket 180° from how you have it and that allowed the rod to ride between the side bolster on the seat and the center console still wiggles a little but nowhere near as bad as it did in your configuration.

Ok I was wondering about that. Does it clear the seat track and bracket and stuff?
