If I wanted to tow a flat bed trailer with a UTV on it, I’d want to have a 1/2 or just keep your current truck. The Tacoma may do it on paper, but it will be a totally different experience than what you’re used to.

Just get an OR and slowly convert it to a Pro. Not much difference and you save allot of money. All I need is a TRD pro skid plate but still on the hunt to find one at a reasonable price.

Ya? You think the Tacoma wouldn't be good for towing a small single axle alum flat deck with a utv on it? Only talking like 3000-3500 lbs total. I know its not enough for my 2500 to even really notice a difference in fuel eco.

I just went through this whole decision process. I was in the same boat with wanting leather and heated seats. When I built that in the OR it was $3500 less than a pro. I plan of overloading so the suspension was a concern of mine. After looking at all the details I thought it made sense for my situation to go with the Pro. By the time I lifted it with a suspension such as Icon and wheels and tires it was going to be more expensive to get the OR. With the Pro I am able to do what I want to.

I'd keep the Ram and get a Tacoma, to drive when you don't need the capacity of the Ram. That's why the regular cab Tacoma was such a great configuration. People want smaller trucks, and not necessarily CUV with a bed.

I own a tundra and a Tacoma. The Tacoma is a Royal pita to tow with if you are use to a larger more powerful truck. If you are use to a Cummins you will likely be even more annoyed than I am with the Tacoma towing.
Hopefully 4th Gen Tacoma gets 430ft lb range of the new Colorado, but somehow I doubt that.

also here in Canada the price gap to the pro wasn’t worth it for me. It’s a crazy price jump for what you get imo.

Done some towing with my Tacoma. You'll feel 3500lbs for sure pulling with a Tacoma. If I towed daily I would've bought a Tundra but if i only needed to tow a small camper or trailer on the occasional weekends the Tacoma is fine.

That 2500 is just about exactly what I would get if I got a real tow vehicle. Nice rig. Do they make the side mirrors without chrome?

A friend tows a sled for winter hunting and was just complaining about 9mpg and the lack of range. Most who tow with a Taco wish they had a bigger truck, though a few are happy enough. One thing which doesn’t mix well is adding weight and bigger tires. Tongue weight is another concern, easy to use all 1000 lbs of payload with passengers and gear.

ETA: Ah, yes, side mirrors are black, I've only seen 'em chromey, very nice, much better black. It was hard to see on my phone.

I came very close to getting a MT Pro for my 2022, instead of the OR but I was so set on an Access cab, that I went with the latter and then added the TRD “accessories” to get a semi-pro for a few dollars less.
If you’re OK with a 4-door, the Pro is very nice, and all the goodies were installed in the factory, instead of by your dealer.

Having said that, “Codfather” suggests you live near the east coast, and are familiar with ice storms. The halogen lights on the OR may be older technology, but they melt snow and ice much more effectively than LEDs. I believe that’s why Toyota still includes them in Canada.

In your shoes I would definitely wait to see what the 2024s bring to the table. Beauty of a truck you have in the meantime. That right there would be my dream tow rig parked next to my tacoma in a (my) perfect world.
