So will Toyota ever design, engineer, and build a sports car that isn’t a warmed-over BMW or Subaru?

No, I’m talking about a sports car. Like the actual Toyota Supra’s and at least some generations of Celica.

There's no money in it, why bother.

The Yaris GR and Corolla GR are what we get right now, and they are pretty good.

Drove a Corolla APEX the other day, I hated it, the corollas handle really well now (better than FR-S I'd say) but the APEX is far too firm for my canadian roads.

So Toyota isn’t interested in sports cars anymore.

Toyota is interested in making money and evidently they their research doesn't say that money is in sport cars.

Toyota would have to compete with Corvette, Ferrari, Lamborghini, NSX and I don't think they could, or would invest in building a respectable sports car.

Maybe the new Acura Integra, or something from Lexus would be the next best thing to a Toyota SC.

The present Supra doesn’t really compete with Corvette or Ferrari.

No, what is the supra inline 6 or a turbo 4? The Supra and Vette and the Italian super cars are not really a comparable. What ever a modern Supra would be it would have to adress what is on the market, and who ever would be in the market for a Toyota sports car could probably afford a Ferrari.

I think the Lexus RC would be a better choice over the Toyota Supra. The Supra is more of a sports car, but I think the IS or RC with the V8 would be faster than the Supra.

LC500 are super under rated for sure. I drove one at my work a few weeks ago and was impressed.

A back step for when I get older, Carhartt seatcovers, 4Runner wheels, Topper, and "tats all folks"! --for now!!
Very nice looking car - with the exception of that "grill" I can't seem to get by that. I know Toyota/Lexus does not give a crap what this old fart thinks, but they may want to know I have heard the same thing from many others. They need to give the buyers a allowance to hire a detail guy to clean the grill every week. That damned "bar-b-que grill" would catch literally everything and anything that ain't tied down!

I wish Toyota would tone down the Grilles a little also, way too obnoxious.
