I recently bought a 2021 and I have read about so many different mods that I want to do like lifts, tunes, interior upgrades. My question is what would you do differently if you had known then what you know now?

    1) probably raptor lights honestly. I might get rid of them soon because they don’t match anything else on the truck

Or I’ll switch the fuse location and have them only come on when the headlights come on. I have them piggybacked into the injector fuse so they’re on whenever the truck is in accessory mode or whenever the engine is on

    2) buying cheap aftermarket headlights. I bought those SpyderAuto/TacomaBeast headlights for a really cheap price before morimoto xb and alpharex Tacoma headlights became popular and I ended up losing nearly all visibility at night because I sold the oem headlights.

I would have to say my softopper I love it and hate it . It’s a great product . But visibility sucks . Might end up buying a tonneau cover soon .

It’s the dumbest thing. I bought, what I thought, was a really nice metal rear license plate frame with TRD emblem to replace the stupid dealership one that advertises for them.

However, the replacement didn’t fit. I figured they were all standard, but the holes wouldn’t line up because the frame bottoms out on the bumper too early. Still pisses me off when I see it on my work bench. If anyone has a link for a nice one that fits, let me know.

The biggest mistake I made was even buying a Tacoma after I learned Toyota never addressed the frame rusting issues. I knew there was a problem with the frames previously but assumed that had been corrected after all the frame replacements. It was a toss between the 17 Tacoma and Honda Ridgeline. I went with the Tacoma because it was still a real truck and had a full frame.
I am happy with mine and had Toyotas frame treatment which was a joke but I still worry.
I live in Ohio and pressure wash the frame every week to try to keep the salt brine off it. So far the rust has been minimal.
I bought the truck for life. It was my retirement present. Not sure now if it will out last me or not.

Christ, Moody! I think you forgot to take your “happy pill“ this morning! You made it to retirement and own one of the best vehicles on the road. Life is good! Smile!CEAD1CAD-024C-4C7F-8893-7A0ED6BEFC0E.jpg

My running boards were a waste of money. Step on them to get into the truck then u have to duck to enter.

Here is the plate frame I purchased, it fits nicely in the rear bumper recess and not too expensive.

I went from a Prius to the Tacoma, what’s you say is truth! Going from 50mpg to 13 (only occasionally 15 -20 min driving going on right now) hurts... but then I see my truck and smile then start her up and smile again!

For me it would be getting eBay steps and not saving for sliders with a kick out. Don’t get me wrong, the steps look and are great, they just are not sliders and won’t offer any real protection. Protection from you know, carts at target and Walmart...

The best advice is to build it for the tasks you will actually be performing with it.

I sold a platinum trim level f150 for a Tacoma. Tacoma def isn’t as nice inside or as big but I expected that and wanted a smaller and more reliable truck

    I've only had a few:
    • Ditch light brackets with provivisions for a Firestik and ditch lights. I didn't like how the ditch lights looked and I don't really have too much use for them. I could never get the Firestick to say grounded because of corrosion on the mount. If I didn't already have the CB when I bought the truck, I wouldn't have done anything with it. I've got a Lil Wil magnet mount I can use in a pinch, I just need to wire it into the truck.
    • Alpine PWE-S8 powered subwoofer. Some people love these, I don't and will be selling it in the spring. I bought a Stealthbox and will be doing a dedicated amplifier.
    • I'm 50/50 on my 2G Pro lift. I absolutely love it, but after the first winter having it, I've got some clunks in the truck that drive me nuts. Is it the uprights making the noise, or is it body mounts? I don't know, but I've done all the usual suspect things (sway bar drop, rechecking torque on every bolt I touched, etc). I'll probably suck it up and do the body mounts at some point in the not too distant future, but until thend, I'll get slightly irked every time I hit a bump. Had I not had the lift and I had the clunking, I could have just dropped it off at the dealer and said "fix it" while it was still under warranty. It's not the end of the world, but those little problems drive me bonkers.
    • KC ProSport HID Roof lamps. I've had the poorest luck with aftermarket HID systems. I had to extend wires to reach the roll bar and then make ease of wiring the connectors. I have 100% faith in all my soldering, but I've been chasing a lamp that won't light unless the truck is running since I installed the system. I don't know if I've got a sensitive ballast, a string of bad bulbs (including replacement ones) or what. I should have just gone with halogen and be done with it. I have halogen inserts, but I'm on the fence on spending time to swap to halogen since I rarely use them.
Otherwise, I've been reasonably pleased with everything else I've done to the truck.

I have one that fits. You are right about the fact that its a pain to fit on there. I have another one hanging in my closet, if you had a trd sport I would've just mailed it to you for free lmao.

E rated 265/75/16" wrangler Dura tracs. I want to sell em for a song, if anybody is interested. 5 tires and matching OEM rims. Brand spanking new. I Just don't like how harsh the ride is. I guess I don't really have the weight in the truck to necessitate a heavy duty tire like that...
