Dang man, getting a little worked up there

    It’s just a suggestion and I didn’t say it was $500.

Depending on degree of wheeling you want to achieve, I’d argue that saving the money for a locker, some protection (sliders & engine skid), and tires are the best modifications you can do to your Tacoma.

Dang man, that’s pretty steep for just a rear locker. I purchased my Nitro Gear 5.29s and front / rear ARB air lockers and got them installed for around $6500.

OK . . . here we go - TW Friday starts early.
What are you even talking about bro? The OP has a $500 budget and now you are talking lockers and sliders, skid plates and tires. And what you are suggesting, they do all of that without mentioning a lift and suspension upgrades? So throw all that into the mix. You did all that and I did all that and it was way more than $500 way way way more - so why are you even bringing it up for ?

What my comment was sarcasm about the other guy mentioning lockers.

honestly best under $500 dollar mod would be nice seat covers and suburu tweeter mod

You may have to start at the casino.
    $500 on red or black.
    Good luck!

    welcome!

apparently, you've already horribly wrecked your truck.

you or the previous owner installed the wrong grille. the trd pro grille is the only acceptable grille modification allowed.

the silent rules here require all newbies to install the following components, regardless of their needs, usage, or money available.

    Floor mats
    Bed cover
    Seat jackers
    Side mirror caps
    Grille replacement
LED interior and license plate lights

otherwise member here will assume you're snorting substances derived from questionable sources, and it gives everyone reason to question all of your other life choices.

i don't make the rules, i'm just passing them along so you don't end up shunned in the corner with rebels like me!

I know - my mistake I'm 100% with you some how my comment got directed at you when I meant it for "you need an e locker (not to mention all the other shit that goes with it)" guy.

It really depends on what you’re doing. Generally though, if off-roading is your goal, it’s “lockers before lights”. $500 won’t get you far but you might be better off saving up more and starting with suspension and tires. You could probably find a decent suspension kit used.

What type of off roading? Rock crawling? Deep mudding? Any water fording planned? A 4wd Sport can already handle light trails in most OHV and National Parks. Is $500 the total budget? Or per section mod? If we are talking $500 overall, just spend it on recovery gear.

    Just my opinion:
    Floor mats Yes
    Bed cover Maybe
Seat jackers possibly only if manual seats and driver fit
    Side mirror caps No
    Grille replacement Maybe
LED interior and license plate lights No for many

    Small correction:

BAD: "What should I spend money on?"
GOOD: "I need the P/N for OEM LED headlights."
