might be stating the obvious but you gotta have good credit to get a good loan rate. Call around to different banks. Typically credit unions require a savings account opened with them.

I leased because it made sense for me at the time, knowing that I would buy it out and that my residual was at or below what my vehicle value would be at lease end. No question I was buying it as I have kept my last two Tacomas for a couple hundred thousand miles and I had every intention to do the same. Since I knew I was buying it out (and that wouldn't be a problem financially), why would I wait to make the truck how I like it?

For OP - when I did buy it out, I didnt even have to go through the dealership - lined up a bank loan based on the VIN and provided the buyout info to Toyota Financial. No questions asked.

Just to add to this, I added wheels, tires, foglights, and trd grill, and window tint to my old SR-SX, traded it in, and got zero questions asked. It was a lease, and I got into another tacoma. The dealer didnt care or mention anything. Even with my butchered wiring of foglights added to the SR they never said a word. Other then they wanted the truck to sell.

If anything I did them a favor by tastefully modifying it. It sat on their lot a week before it sold.....

Doesnt hurt to ask the dealer...I have a cool dealer so they were fine with it.

    Hope this helps

Did you trade it in or do a lease return?

Sounds like a trade-in, on which the dealer will likely never have an issue with any mods. They either want it for a certain price, or they don't.

A turn-in likely would be very different.

It was a lease through US bank. Also was the end of my lease, literally that month. I assumed the dealer and US bank did a back door deal with eachother to buy the truck off them and then turn around and sell it on their lot.

I also got into another truck with TMF.

There are no back-door deals. Your 2020 purchase contract would show if you sold the car to the dealer (a trade-in). If not, you did a lease return and the dealer bought the modded SR from US Bank. US Bank would have sent you some paperwork showing that the lease was successfully completed and the vehicle turned in. Either way there are documents showing what happened.

I was given a pay off amount by US Bank (residual value) and the dealer was given a different amount to pay for the truck off of US bank. They 100% got it for a better deal then what I was told I would have to pay to buy the truck. As evidenced by what they had the truck for sale for after they took it.

By a better deal do you mean a different amount? How would you even know that? I’m not saying you aren’t right, I just don’t know how you would know.

And where the heck is @Taco de cement ? I need to teach him something about adjustable rate mortgages before he adds a grotto to his new home in the valley.

You waited until your lease was due up? I would have been more pro active about this, but yeah. Go into your local credit union or bank and get a loan and let them do all the paperwork that TFS will require. As long as you have good income you won’t get drug over the coals with a rate
