@Basikbiker I wonder if I could use the JD slide rack I already have with the Tundra rack? That would be amazing... Stronger rack with the ability to move the tie rods forward as well

The slide itself is partially held in place by pieces that slide over the end of the slide and pick up the stock mounting bolts of the rack. So those would have to be modified. My guess is there may be alignment issues with the bracket that inner part of your tie rod attaches to as the spacing need to be the same between the end of the steering rack and the end of the slide. Ton of variables to contend with.

Yeah you're right I forgot that it slides over the end of the rack. I have been struggling with steering and tie rod clearance a lot and haven't been able to find the sweet spot yet

Was messaging Travis on the insta tonight about possibly picking up a rack since he has a couple right now, and mines a ticking bomb

So for us 3rd gen guys (2nd gen to if you need the clearance), I put these simple 2nd gen poly mounts in my 3rd gen tonight. Yes, I know solid makes some, but these are another option and they are also super easy to adjust/space up the motor for rack clearance. Bolted right in and hardly added any extra vibes. I gained .25" height from my clapped out stockers

I've done two now, both on 3rd gens, one even had 934 CVs, and I've never had engine or axle clearance even be close to a problem. The only clearance issue is the steering shaft.

For that I just cut off the accordion part, leaving the shaft, and then I have tube that slips over that perfectly to sleeve it. I machine the spline bit so it slips into the tube so it's perfectly aligned, then weld it on, then slip the tube over the shaft and weld it on.

I do find that you have to pull the front diff on the 3rd gen to get the racks in and out though.

I do have a live center now too, in case you were judging me

When I did mine on turd gen lifting engine slightly up was much easier vs removing diff, as another option.

Yeah im not sure where I saw the clearance thing, maybe its with the new eccentrics since the rack will sit slightly higher. I'll find out next weekend though, factory rack is finally leaking a hair after 70k miles on 35s/37s the last few thousand. Stoked to not treat the rack like glass

That's an option too, but I find that the amount of room you have to work with the diff out makes it worthwhile anyway. One of them we were rehearing and locking at the same time as well so 2 birds

After you do make sure to let @moddedbyphil (IG) know how you did it since he’s installing it for me. :headbang:

Any noticeable vibes on start up? How's driving? Feel much better now that the engine isn't rocking side to side?

I also had clapped out stock mounts from 2005 and put solidoffroad mounts in. There's a touch more vibes at idle and while accelerating from a stop light but now I don't even notice it. It's really not that bad.
