Mod it until it is broken!

99% of the time, the Stock configuration is the most reliable. Some mods do fix shortcomings, which I have done some of those. Other mods are just fun. I'd recommend thinking long and hard about any mod that folks can't do and fix themselves. That's the silly part.

^I also had OEM Aisin wheel cylinders blow out and leaving me stranded at 21k and 26k, but apparently that isn't a common issue. :bananadead:

Wheel enough with any truck and it's bound to break, especially stock

I had the weeping leak on my rear diff and also somehow blew the factory driver side axle seal behind the brakes BEFORE I did any upgrades.

Toyota fixed both issues under warranty, and then about a year later I had the gears swapped with Yukon 4:88s, ARB locker in the front and ADS/ICON combo lift, etc. Zero issues, and massive performance improvement in every metric over stock configuration.

I had a Jeep LJ Wrangler years ago, was a member on the Jeep Forums, I don't recall all of the whining that goes on here, going on there. Mod you truck, don't mod your truck. Have some , you only get one go around on this planet, and now is your time.

I have pretty much every mod available other than gears and a blower. Lift, wheels, tires, stereo, all the lights plus a few. Very little trouble with anything.

I think people just have problems with aftermarket stuff and come here for help. Stock trucks go to the dealer.

Depends on the quality of said modification, and the quality of the install. It's really on you for your own mods..... Buy top shelf parts, get top shelf quality.

And, modded Tacomas have lower resale value

    Come at me bro!!!….:crapstorm:

I’ve always been in the mindset, never mod your truck in a way that you can’t easily bring it back to stock when needed

Well, I don't know about you, but when I took delivery of my Taco I changed out my timing cover, the coolant pipe, steering rack, third brake light, and my crank sensor and replaced them ALL with aftermarket substitutes! Dang it, now I KNOW why they are all failing... should have kept the stock ones... /s

Toyota, the only truck you have to mod with Ford axles and Chevy leaf spring to have a capable truck.

11:1 is the ratio. If one person has a problem with something they will tell, on average, 11 other people. Compare that to a person with no problems will only tell one other person.
