let's face it, a bunch of us have families and convince ourselves that's why we got the double cab...really it's for more beer storage space because the atv goes in the bed! Anyway. Let's see some "family mods" that you've done to your truck to enhance the family off roading experience. Or mods that help let you use your truck as a family vehicle on the road while using it as an off road vehicle on the dirt.

I put small paper towel roll in the door water bottle holder. Kids are dirty.

I don't think breaking your back window is going to help very much.:anonymous:

When my children were young I had a few minivans. Perfect for families. Tacoma? Not so much.
My kids are grown, seldom have more than one passenger, perfect for that application.

My advice for best family mod? Trade the Tacoma for a Sienna.

As soon as I saw this, all I could think of was that this has to be Southeast Asia. Maybe on a Hilux.

I never made it over there. I got to Chaing Mai, Bang Kok, and then Koh Chang before heading into Cambodia. Hopefully I’ll make it back one day to explore more of that country. Would be even better to be able to explore it in my Taco.

My taco is perfect for my family of four. Four year old and one year old boys. I’ll be teaching them to drive this manual 10 years.

Wait until they are 12yo and 6' ft tall lol. Plus they will have buddies to haul around. That comes at about 7yo to about 13 yo! Then they will be too cool to be hauled around. Yep, people make fun of minivans but they are absolutely the most practical vehicle ever for a family. Not cool but practical.

I got one of those, too. For road trips—fantastic. Movie screens, loads of room, excellent ride comfort. Doesn’t work for some of the places we travel to; hence the Tacoma.

My family mods so far: seat covers and side steps. Future fam mods: replace side steps with Slee step sliders. TRD Snorkel to keep the engine healthy so I don’t endanger my kids by getting stranded somewhere. Same for a winch and set of maxtrax.

That was us too, until recently. Just got rid of the minivan last week. Got my Tacoma a month ago. My daughter is in love with it, way cooler than a minivan for a 9 going on 30 year old.

The wife is under the impression that the child will get the Tacoma when she's ready to drive. We'll see...

D rings in the bed and a net. The bags and such can go back there freeing up space.

Even better, stiffeners and a net:

My family mod was to put a dual USB port for the rear passengers, and that seems to be all it took to keep them happy and entertained lol!
