Trade it for a Prius. Otherwise the aforementioned light foot is about all you can do.

A light foot on the gas. This has been covered many times so use the search function, chips and throttle body spacers will not work, CAI's will give minimal gains and it'll be hp if any instead of mpg's, exhaust is really only for sound.

    And welcome to TW:wave:

Taller tires. My six speed is geared low so going to a taller tire helped keep rpms down. Just remember if you want to do 100kph, you'll need to work out the difference in speed and keep it at 95kph as an example assuming your speedo is now out by 5% with the taller tire. Getting your rpms down will help gas mileage.

    Stock for now.
Light foot. Imagine there's an egg under your foot and try not to break it.

    Or get a 4cyl.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
Light foot, premium fuel, and patience. A truck is not designed to be a hybrid, they are heavy, poor in aerodynamic design (brick shaped) and are low-geared to be able to tow and haul things. Best I have ever gotten with my 2.7 is 24mpg and that was a stretch, 410 miles on that tank with about 40 after the fuel light came on. I think these trucks get great mileage compared to what I am used to with full-sizers.

I added a Fold-A-Cover, did nothing or very little around town but on the highway it gives me maybe 1-3 MPG's.

Tape an egg to the accelerator.

But seriously, a friend of mine took the little plastic thing from the center of a pizza and put it on his dash with the prongs pointing up.
He put a golf ball on top of the prongs.

He tried to drive in a way that would not displace the ball
