These trucks are definitely lacking in power out of the gate. Everything is a chore throttle wise from getting up to speed to maintaining it on the highway during incline climbs. The problem only amplifies once you throw on armor, which almost becomes essential if you intend to wheel. These trucks shoul had came this way from the factory or at least came as a factory installed option at a reduced in cost price.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.
Absolutely however the fact like you mentioned it was factory backed, warrantied, and 50 state legal.. 4500 is not a bad price.

Even the next best or better in certain ways thing.. the URD setup is nowhere near as well backed. . And it cost more.

The one I think would really make a good truck is URD on the 2.7 bmax package tacoma. . If only I could afford two hahah

I have heard these trucks don't accept the URD ones well and explode internally. I woul much rather choose the TRD over the URD one, not to mention, URD uses a centrifugal blower, which is similiar to a turbo and makes all its power up high. Leaving all the low range torque, which is what we need, off the table. I think 4500 is a fair price for a remaining TRD blower thst may still bw out there. I paid about 4200 and as of right now everytime I hear that whine, my grin extends from ear to ear. :D

Haha yes I payed 4400 plus 110 for flash and 21 for coolant.

The 2.7 is stout, I haven't really seen anything about the urd 2.7 minus one guy in Alaska. I have seen a couple bad deals on the 4.0 and I really like the roots myself! Its not a race car but it is a bunch of fun!

Who do I need to buy a hooker to get the TRD 5.7 Blown Tacoma "RTR" lol that would make a wicked toy

If you dig centrifugal then you should live at the race track, where they shine. If youdig nasty power and torque down low stick to the roots twin screw design. I like my roots. And I think I'll embrace them for a long long time. Lol.

Tundra's with the blowers are known for destroying their trannies. I would dig a truck like that, but I would hate to be stuck footing the bill for the rebuild down the road.

You guys and your engine retrofits. I'm happy with my 330 torque. Thats that I actually stepped down from my 430 torque GTO for this truck, but I enjoy the boost so much that fuck that car. The engine not so much, but as a whole I would much rather drive this then that junk mobile all day.

Slightly off-topic - is spark plug change difficult with the Toyota supercharger installed ?

Yes, you have to take the S/C off to get to them. I'm going to wait for a day when I want to do all of the other supercharger maintenance at the same time.

Who wants the power up high though? Its centrifugal not roots though. Also with the whoa's I've heard of it I would pass anyways. 100hp doesn't mean crap. Show me torque numbers and I'll be more impressed. Everyone has way too much of a hard on for hp because that's all these sales people talk about. Torque is really the thing thats important on these trucks.

The thing is, if you expect race car then you should buy a race car. This is a truck man. Lol. They market this as a power adder not as rocket fuel.

What is stock torque on these trucks? 331 ft. lbs. Is a pretty impressive number to me. It's actually right up there with the V8 LS2 GTO's.

Rocklobster is going to keep buying trucks and SUV's until he finds a fast, as in as fast as a V8 Shelby Mustang or GTO, offroader. He should just lift a Cayenne S and be done with it lol.

Lol oh hell yeah I agree. Or you can always get a Fort F150 Lightning SVT. Those are wicked fast. Btw @Rock Lobster I'm not trying to argue with you or be an ass, I'm just explaining it from a different perspective. Lol.

2008-2010 Cayenne S isn't going to run you all that much cash, maybe $25K-$40K in Canada so less than that for you. Similar to used Tacoma prices, maybe $5K higher. It might need a little work but it'll be freaking fast on the strip compared to the Tacoma.

Maybe I'm jumping the gun here, but it appears to me at least that the fuel economy actually got better for me running 91 now. Actual GTO torque is somewhere in the neighborhood of 340 believe it or not. The crank to wheel rating is one that is dramatic in difference because those cars weigh something close to our trucks. And I know Toyota is actually realistic with their ratings.

You wanted fast, not reliable. You can't really have both TBH unless you buy new.

Besides, with all the dicking around you've done on your S/C you could of pulled apart a Porsche dash by now. Just don't break a tab, it could cost $1000.

Fast and reliable are two words that do not belong in the sentence. Ever. If it does, you modified all your parts with full blown race internals and cryogenically treated, forged, heat treated, supercalifragalistic parts.
