3000GT reliable. I have two friends with Dodge Stealth's with the twin turbo, which is part for part a 3000GT. $700 for new spark plugs and good luck finding the rest of the parts that go wrong on that car.

You are basically talking about cars from a different age. I get it, there have been some Japanese sport coupes that have held up well, but in general once you start talking about cars that stomp on the track reliability goes right out the window. People don't buy a fast car because of how reliable it is.

Dude don't even talk about talk about the VR4's. Those are headache cars alone with sealed transmissions made by Getrag. Those cars are like boxes of assorted chocolates. You never know what you are going to get.

It sounds to me like you need a car to satisfy your need for speed. Even a motorcycle at that.

As for the LS2's that is their numbers at the crank, throw them in a car though and you see how quick that power goes down. I'm telling you. GTSLOW gets Tacoma on blower's # torque. HP loss if I remember correctly was about the same as well.

BTW Lobster I'm not poking fun at you. If you do an LS swap I will definitely be tuned in to see how it goes. I don't know if, after the cash and time you'll drop on getting everything to fit and work right especially if you boost it, you'll still be happy with the results. I've heard of LS swaps going up past $15K when you figure out your time in labour and fabrication going in and guys not getting the level of power they were expecting.

I'm curious to see when Ford will release the new version of the Ecoboost that is coming out in a crate engine. They are promising +500 HP and Torque out of a 3.5L displacement engine. That could be a very interesting swap as well.

How can you compare a GTO to a Tacoma. That's like comparing a Golf TDI to a F250. Not in the same class.

The only thing comparable between the two are the numbers. The GTSLOW still has close to 1000lbs difference in weight from the Tacoma and thats why it's trap times are much quicker. Power to weight ratio.

Man you live in America. Just get your house and then leverage the shit out of everything. Who cares about retirement at our age, right?

My long term plan includes either an FRS or something similar that I'm going to mod the piss out of until it's not really an FRS anymore. I just love the chassis of the FRS, lots of possibilities with that car.

If you wanted more power you bought the wrong truck. There are no mods and keep the warranty that will give you more power other than the SC which is way over priced and no more available. You should have waited on the 2016 truck and see if they offer more power.

Actually there are a lot of bolt-ons. Buuuuut....some can potentially and others won't. Depends on the mods and the dealership. I've never had problems. Others have had to many.

Traded the 2015 TRD Pro 6spd Supercharged on a PowerWagon and could not be happier. My 2011 Tacoma with the TX Baja package (Added by me) is still treating me great. My 1985 Toyota never skips a beat.

One can dream can't they? Lol. As nice as that would be, I don't necessarily forsee that happening. It could actually be avoided by sticking to N/A and cranking out more power out of the engines.

I'd be more than happy to see Toyota bring out a true Raptor equivalent in the 2016+ Tacoma. Use that small inline 4 turbo engine Lexus has, add some beefer suspension components to match the shocks with bigger tires, and reinforce the frame. I could see that truck selling at $50K and still having good sales. I wouldn't buy one but given the demand for the Pro I see no problem with Toyota selling that sort of truck at that price.

You make a good point... from what I'm getting out of this my only solid option is to get the TRD SC, but I don't think that's possible anymore since they're no longer in production

I'll have to ask my buddy who's a Toyota tech, but he said that buying the supercharger alone isn't a great decision and that there is a laundry list of things that he "recommends" to add as well so that the engine runs smoothly... but basically if you don't add these parts you're going to see maintenance problems down the road

    Laundry list?

The S/C comes with Iridium plugs. There isn't anything better than that for longevity.

I think your buddy is full of BS, no offense meant. Sure, supporting mods like a new intake, headers, smaller pulley, methanol injection, full exhaust, etc can get you more out of your S/C but all of those mods are not approved by Toyota so unless your buddy is getting a kick back for parts he sells you he shouldn't be recommending them.

Well I cant speak on his behalf because I really can't remember everything he told me. He obviously knows more than I do on this subject but I wanted to get more opinions
