Yeah im excited for the topper, I was set on getting a Bestop Supertop but after doing more research I found out they dont make one for the 1st gen double cab 5ft bed. Either way Im pumped to have some bed coverage.

I went with Energy suspenion bushings from a shop near my place. Same price I would have paid online but saved the shipping cost. Im sore from straining trying to loosen those bolts while laying on my back.

softtopper looks AWESOME Moe!!!! They are really handy to have if u are like me. i keep my fishing rods and a container full of recovery gear in it and i can keep it locked up if im out anywhere. It goes good with the black and gold theme u have going on. Now what u should do is put some kind of rack system on it to mount a basket of some kind on top.

Thanks TRD and Goldie. Both of your trucks are looking very nice!

As for the topper I'm really enjoying it! Shopping around for bed mats or possibly a blow up mattress that fits inside the bed but also has indentions for the wheel well humps.

    Here's a day time pic

Thanks! im really liking the topper. For the retros I'm gonna do the BHLM. Only thing I'm stuck on is what to do with the shrouds. Not sure if I should leave them chrome, or paint them black or maybe white. Chrome or white will make it stand out more so I'm gonna end up doing one of those colors probably.

Yea I'm gonna do the bhlm with black shrouds and tint the parking lights. I may even try to color match my grille, idk that I've seen a first gen gold with a matched grille. Still undecided as I may do it black tho. Jus wanna get to of the chrome

    Did a couple things today...
First I tried the black rocker panel look (plasti dip). It looked ok, but some folks said it would have looked better if it were lower and not so high. Either way I didn't like it and went ahead and removed. Here's a pic pe9evy8u_a133c975309e0c60411dd1de5db4e0fc66d9e5fd.jpg

Next, I added some interior LED's from Jumpers LED's. They definently do make a difference.

Thanks! I'll get some daytime shots today. Yeah it actually was pretty easy (with the correct relay harness). When I placed my order I selected the 9006 relay harness because I didn't know I needed a certain one. Once the 9003/ H4 relay came in yesterday it was pretty self explanatory. But the help of others on TW made it much easier because I did have questions.

Now I gotta tackle the halo wire-up. I'm clueless when it comes to electrical (although the retro install has educated me a little) so splicing into wires in order to hook up the halos is kinda scary to me. But I'm sure I'll figure it out.

Thanks Nathan, yeah these things are bright, I can't imagine not having the projectors to regulate the light output/ direction. I can't look directly into the projector when it's on, it's like looking directly at the sun. The install wasn't too bad. At first I had the wrong relay but didn't know it. So I was confused to how it worked but after getting the correct relay, then it was nice and smooth. Did you get the halos? I ordered the extra re-sealing glue/ putty just in case. I did use it because I cleared out some of the old glue, just the easy stuff, then put a good layer of the sealing putty all around. I didn't have to clamp them because it holds itself pretty well, just gotta make sure your press it all the way in once they come out of the oven. Make sure to put the silver clips back on each side because they do help a little. I let them dry a good hour, then installed. Have fun with the install and post some pics.

Been following your build. You have a fine truck there! What tires did you end up with/ I think thy are the BFG KM2's but did you go with the 255/85R16 or the 285/75R16 size? I am wanting to try the 255/85 on my second gen Tacoma.

    Thanks Bill! I appreciate that.
I'm actually still shopping for tires and wheels. I changed my mind and now want 15" wheels. So I'm gonna go with the 33x10.50x15 km2's. Currently I have the 255/85 cooper st's. For an all terrain tire they are excellent! I'm sure they could hang with some MT's. As for fitment, I have no issues with rubbing during daily driving. On the trails it will rub at full stuff. The 33/10.50's are just a tad wider that the 255/85's. Ive enjoyed how the 255's run and handle so I'm glad I'm able to stay near the same width when going to a 33" tall tire on a15" wheel. If you go the 255/ 85 route in sure your gonna love them (they have my recommendation). I can't speak for the 285 but I know they look good, plus you may need to do some light trimming for daily driving. Also, they are a little heavier from what I've seen. Post some pics when you get your new tires!
