fun stuff coming soon! New battery, radiator and CV joints and axles. Added some Rancho RS5000 shocks.

pretty expensive gun, and daughter just got a truck and a new pup, daughter is also fixing up her truck, so my budget cant handle that, but i will surely chip in on it for her.

but she decided against that one bc the ammo is expensive and hard to come by, about 2$ a bullet and has to be ordered online.

Redhawks are good guns but for about 350-400 less you can get a ruger security-six .357. I have one and its a really good gun, not a whole lot of kick and when put through the longivity test it beat the colt python. Do not go with a xd or kahr, ive owned both and they are shit. Def go with a heavier .357 so you can shoot .38 as well and lower recoil if you wanna go with a nastier round

That is a .44 or .45....seems to me like the recoil may be a bit much for a woman imo.

Not to hate or anything, but .

Do you mean a .30-06, pronounced "thirty-aught six"?

Oh, and call it a "round." The bullet is just the bullet itself, not the entire casing/primer/powder/bullet.

    Borrowed picture:

Again, don't take it wrong, but PLEASE, before you go to a gun store and buy a gun, know the difference between a clip and a magazine. I've seen a firearm salesmen refuse the sale of a gun to a kid who kept wanting a big "clip" for his gun. And with the .30-06, I'm not trying to be rude, but it just helps when you go to buy a gun and know the correct terminology. Especially with females. Not that you're not knowledgeable, but I see firearm salesmen discriminate and don't help females as much as they should buying a gun. If you walk into a gun store and know your shit, you'll get MUCH better service from a salesman, and he can actually talk with you about functions of the gun. If not, they'll talk to you in "baby talk" and you might not get told all the info you need about a gun. Just my .02.

i thought it was aught but when i looked it up it came up with odd...

bullet sounded better in that sentence then round did

and i really dont need to worry about the clips or magazine part now do i since she wants a REVOLVER!!!!

effin a how many times do i have to say this.

if i was him, i would too. who would sell a gun to someone saying that?

and as far as that salesman goes, he shouldnt have that job imo. he is there to educate not discriminate because someone doesnt know something, or use baby talk. I pray for the guy that talks to me like an idiot, he will surely regret it...im sure the manager wouldnt be happy with the loss of a sale because the salesman wasnt doing his job in educating the customer and being condescending.

if i know all my shit, i wont need a salesman, i will simply walk into the store buy what i need and be done.

so are we done correcting me now? because as far as im concerned you havent given me one bit of useful info, how about reading what the thread is about or not replying at all, ok?

im not a firearms fanatic, so no, im not going to use the correct terminology all the time, get over it! or go somewhere else.

The reason you need to know basic terms, is because the best way to find the gun that is best is to start with these steps. I know you pretty much know what you want, but start wherever applicable:

    1) What kind of firearm (Pistol or Rifle)?
    3) What style of pistol (Revolver, Semi-Auto)?
    4) Are there any brands that you prefer (Ruger, S&W, Colt)? Your choice here
    5) What action (Single Action, Double Action)?
    6) What is the purpose (Personal Defense, Outdoors Defense, Hunting, etc.)
    7) What caliber do you want (.357, .44, .41, .38)? This seems to be where you are at trying to decide
    8) Go to a gun store and feel the gun. Is it comfortable? Is the weight right? Cycle the action, is it up to your standards?
    9) Buy one and go have fun!

Personally, I carry a .357 with me in the woods. I've been charged by Grizzlies on 2 separate occasions, and I've never felt more secure than with my Ruger GP100. Double Action, nice and heavy (lower recoil), and just a downright badass gun. I feel like Dirty Harry with it. But it really comes down to preference. I would recommend a .44 or a .357 for Woods-carry. Brands? Eh, preference. I'd go Ruger, but I'm just a Ruger fanatic. The reason I say to go to a dealer is to feel the gun, cycle the action. You don't buy a Truck without driving it first! (Well... I guess some Tacoma owners do haha!) Hope this helps, and again, no insult intended previously!

OP, ..actually "clips" can be used in revolvers, ...i.e. "moon clips"... this is a type of cylindrical clip that allows revolvers to fire rimless cartridges, like many pistol cartridges, 45ACP, 10mm, ..etc.

...this is why understanding the terminology is important if you want helpful responses...

a good revolver setup for your friend might be a S&W Model 610, which is chambered for the 10mm auto cartridge, ..and fires it w/ the use of moon clips.. see here:

well we kinda skipped #1 when i said she doesnt want a rifle or shotgun. and specifically wants a revolver. thats her personal preference. I was wanting some recommendations on what calibers are good for a woman to use but too strong on the recoil, but also has some stopping power to it, so that when we go to the store she has some options in mind to look at and choose from with a basic knowledge of the caliber. she isnt brand specific yet, she was also wanting suggestions on that, we know s&w and ruger are good ones, but if anyone had any other brand they liked.

and yes i know you dont buy a gun without tryin it out first and making sure its comfortable. it took us over an hour to find a rifle i liked, and it was the one the guy said most dont like, along with my scope, he called it the weird one that didnt work for many people, worked like a champ for me. but im also a lefty using a righty gun...kind of awkward loading, i have to be careful not to jam it.

do you read? its titled, "Momma wants a gun" as in my mother...not my friend.

again, she DOESNT WANT A CLIP NOR DOES SHE WANT A MAGAZINE.
Just a regular old revoler. Stop trying to correct me so much and actually read what im wanting assistance with.

I need caliber recommendations for revolers for my mother to use. We've narrowed it down to double action, for outdoors protection. but the .357 is sounding like a winner, so now we have to find one she likes.

the judge gives her the option of shooting a .45 magnum or a 410 shotshell (throw buckshot in it and shes golden) yes itll kick a little bit more but again she has a choice of ammo to put through it. i knw some were going against taurus but its just more food for thought. i wouldnt mind having one myself. ive shot it a few times and again its a revolver(like she wants)

    just my .02

wouldnt that one be a little much if its able to fire off shotgun shells? by the looks of that one she wont like it. she likes the old school look, but i will show her when i get home.

If she wants a revolver id go .38 or if she want more power but still cheap get a .45acp revolver with moon rings...9mm auto always works to123 005.jpg2011-03-10_13-13-13_924.jpg047 (3).jpg041 (3).jpg042 (3).jpg

its less than you would think but again its just for the option if she knows she may NEED more then she could have the option. if you could find someone with one similar then she could try it and it might be manageable

ok, ill keep it in mind for her. not sure what shes gonna think about the look of it.

She definitly want a double action revolver,no ifs ands or buts. I think her 9mm is the one that jammed on her when she shot the snake, luckily the first shot when through the head but it wasnt good enough for her, she wanted to shoot it again  crazy mommas
