Fitting route name for a fitting photo. lol

I good buddy of mine from Cali, who is an incredibly strong climber, came out to climb with me years ago. 5.10 for him is usually a warm-up. So I took him over to ED for the first route. He looked up the corner at 3 massive roofs and said:

    "It goes WHERE?" lol

Nah dude, don't worry. My legs work fine, and you won't catch me hanging upside from any cliff walls any time soon. I'm more your speed of kayak fishing these days.

Google 'Hugh Herr". Long story short. He's a rock climber that lost his legs on Mt Washington at 19. Then proceeded to get prosthetics and continue to climb at an incredibly high level at the time. Then he went to MIT and started designing them. Now he's one of the top people in that field. His Ted Talk is worth the listen.

At some point, if the rock has a high iron content and you put magnets in the legs, does it become an unfair advantage?

Funny thing. When he did the first ascent of Stage Fright, an very thin crack with almost no gear, some other strong climbers said he "cheated" because he had special feet made just for that climb. I still get a kick out of that story. The guy literally has no tibia's and he's climbing harder then all the other tough guys. So what do they do? Yep. Say he cheated. LMAO.

Were your legs born wonky or did you fuck them up later in life (accident, military, etc)? There's a ton of research going on right now into muscle and tissue regeneration.

Still kinda blows my mind that the Adirondack mountains are geologically much younger than the Sierras, even being so short. Then you look at the Rockies, and they're infants compared to both.

He posted a video a while back when it happened, pretty crazy. I posted on his original thread way back when cause I was kind of shook from watching it. I don’t want to retell it and get it wrong- you had to stop in the middle of traffic on a highway right? And people were just driving by not checking until some young girls saw something might be wrong and came to help or something like that? Either way glad you made it through and hope things are only going up from here.
