So here's a completely random question for you Gallatin Valley residents....

Anyone remember the polar bear that used to be in the mall here? Whatever happened to it? :notsure:

Well, after being on the road for over 10 days it feels good be finally be back home. The adventure with Lisa was fun. Definitely covered a lot of roads and discovered some more areas to explore in the summer. Work and play ensued the remainder of the 10 days out. Here are some of the results.

No, it wasn't on purpose. And I wish I could blame spellcheck  but I can't.

I meant "wry"! I was referring to that crooked grin and twinkle in his eye, not whiskey or grass or bread.

    You're alive!

I told you it was bad. I've been tempted to go back up there to see if they've gotten it out yet.

This is a topic that has been covered before but I guess I'll put in my .02 for those who care to listen.

Today I removed my Coil Overs to send back to Icon for a rebuild and overhaul. Put the stockers back in and I already miss my CO's. Definite difference in ride quality and ride height.

The reason the CO's are going in for rebuild are two fold. One, I have 40k miles and one year of use on them and they have developed a weep. Could I have gone longer before the rebuild? Possibly. Am I picky about these kinds of things and demand high standards out of products? Absolutely. I expected them to last a little longer before requiring a rebuild. The second reason is because I am upgrading to 700lb coils so I don't have to pre-load them as much. (ARB bumper, winch, dual batteries, etc.)

So for those of you interested in front suspension upgrades may want to take this into consideration. CO's are not maintenance free and can be a bit of a nuisance. It is definitely worth penciling out the pro's and con's. Would I do the CO's again? I'm not sure, there is a strong appeal with the OME 886's and Expedition 3" leaf pack for the rear. Simple, effective and hassle free.

The main reason I initially went with CO's; I wanted to be able to progressively lift the front as I added accessories. I also didn't want to do the full 3" lift due to the potential of premature CV wear, U Joint wear, and vibrations. My truck sees a lot of road miles and I wanted to maintain ride comfort, reliability, and keep maintenance costs to a min. (there's that trade off again, maintain CO's or replace u joints and CV's) Don't get me wrong, these things ride like a dream and they perform flawlessly.

Bottom line; adjustability in the front end at the cost of CO maintenance, or the Ronco Rotisserie "Set it and forget it" method of the OME set up.
If I were to do it again, I'd heavily look into the OME setup with a progressive heavy duty rear leaf pack and good shock (I carry a lot around) Personally I expect more than a year and 40k miles out of a suspension. Lets hope the next go-around proves better.

    Enough of my .02. Cheers!

Gonna be in Bozeman in 2 weeks here and would like to maybe do a small meet with all the tacomaworld people there. I haven't actually met anyone personally off of this site so I'd like to do a small meet/greet type of thing and see the trucks you guys are driving. So let me know what works for you guys. I'm pretty open.

When exactly? Give us some dates and we'll see what we can throw together. A lot of the guys here will be going through finals soon so I'm guessing that will be their priority until the semester is over.
