You're seriously gonna leave out MSU? I can make a pretty strong case for everything except for Petroleum Engineering... Especially when it comes to placement numbers.

True, I guess when I think MSU I think architecture and business, they just done compare to Tech in engineering IMO. Thats why i left them out. Placement they do very well, as does tech, missoula slightly less so i think. Im a griz fan and the only reason I would even go to UofM is if I needed a year to just party and get absoultely nothing done lol.

UofM has a better business school for now... And a Master's program to boot. MSU just got a $25mil donation to the business program so there is gonna be a big shift in power there. MSU is a very strong engineering school, especially in the heavy civil, industrial, structural, etc departments. Having been in the electrical engineering program at both MSU and Tech I can honestly say that I didn't notice much of a difference though I will admit it was all 100-200 level material. If Missoula doesn't put some money into it's school soon the only thing it will have on MSU is its premed/nursing programs. Sure I am a little biased, but MSU provided me nothing but opportunity and has done so for many students, ESPECIALLY engineers. We are an engineering school and have the largest career fair dedicated to engineers in the region. Nearly every one of my friends (both engineering and business) that were looking for a job got career placement right out of the chute.

    Strengths:

UofM: Business (for now), medicine (premed/nursing/pharmacy), forestry, psychology, most of the social sciences

MT Tech: Petroleum Engineering for sure, geological sciences

MSU: Damn near everything else. You could make a case for Tech being every bit as strong in many of the major engineering fields, but MSU has the heavy construction types pegged and has a TON of money coming into the school so look for big expansion in the coming few years. We also have the best Ag programs in the state.

I'm getting off my soapbox. I have homework to do... :pout: Be up till like midnight for sure

I pretty much agree with everything you just said lol. Were getting a little advantage this year tho, Tech is going to be able to offer DR in engineering now.

Missoula for Forestry without a doubt.
    MSU for farrier school.
UW for engineering especially if its petroleum engineering.
What kind of Fire Sciences were you thinking?

Lol your way off. the only thing you got right there was missoula for forestry. Wyo's petroleum program is hardly anything good right now. It jsut got accredited like 3 years ago.

If its a top PE Program you want, just stay in Texas.
UWs PE is a small group, but all my friends who did it have secured employment and since its enrollment has shot up considerably the program is getting $$$$.
Where is THE best Farrier school then??!?

I don't know, but who gives a shit? You might be correct, but it does not apply to this discussion whatsoever. Hell, I can change shoes and I never went to school for it. I just worked at a horse corral for a few summers when I was younger.

Im in Pe and working for a large company, president of our SPE chapter, its my job to know this. Uw is a fine school, but for PE you are farther ahead going to Tech. If you want to go to Texas all you are going to learn is theoretical petroleum engineering that will never occur in real life. I have met adn worked with the Texas PE students and its far from the best.

    My two cents.....

For 40 years you are going to spend about a third of your time working, so pick a school that you can afford that will best prepare you to follow your passion or dream job. Think long term because schools, businesses and governments are constantly changing.

I dont think my outlet in the bed will run a waffle maker, but bring one and we'll try it out.
