    Irony of ironies... I traveled from Scottsdale AZ to Bozeman in May to spend time with my daughter who is in her 3rd year at MSU. After enjoying the snow and lush greenery I asked her if they ever had forest fires. She had grown up in Colorado, and was aware of that possibility. She said, nope, no fires in MT. Since then all I have seen is fires in MT. Hoping this was a lesson year to the community.

    There have been fires here as long as I lived here. I hear they didn't really used to be as big a concern though (like 80s and 90s). On the bright side everything that caught fire this year won't catch on fire again for decades! I may even go burned out lot shopping.

    Fire has always been part of the Montana landscape. The vast majority of our fires are caused by lightning. The trend of warmer and drier summers is just making the fire season start earlier and last longer - which makes for bigger fires. Rain, and possibly snow, is on it's way at the end of the week up here. Let's just hope it's enough to make a difference.

    Definitely a bad year for us statewide. I saw there were some storms in the forecast for the end of the week - hoping there isn't any lightning to accompany whatever moisture that brings. :pray:

    It was nice to have yesterday finally be clear in Butte, to bad I had to leave. Back in Utah for a few weeks, then a nother quick stop in Butte before finally back in Denver. I have lsot track of how long it has been since I was home lol I think 3 going on 4 weeks.

    Maybe, depending on time I leave Butte and how urgently I need to get to Denver, we can try to do a lunch/early dinner @MTgirl
