    haha biggest issue is everyone is a good few hours apart generally...welcome to mt.

    No trail past the lake. Technically the whole area is wilderness...except the road. It is the furthest south you can drive into the beartooth/absaroka wilderness.

    Goose lake is the furthest you can drive north into the wildernest which is about 20miles south east as the crow flies from blue lake.

    Not a lot open this time of year. Maybe around Canyon Ferry outside of Helena or Pipestone outside of Whitehall. Big valleys, don't usually get too much snow. Nearly all forest service roads are closed until either April 1 or June 1

    We have some options here. The snow pack dwindles as you drive toward Missoula and Eureka. We leave a lot of the roads alone for the snowmobiles. You can't get far on those roads anyway.

    There used to be a trail connecting the two. I’ve talked to some old timers than have been on it. But in the early 80’s they designated it wilderness and closed the road.

    interesting. There is no trace of a road anymore. They closed the last 1/2 mile or so of goose a while back as people were tearing up the tundra there.

    No even sure how the two could connect easily. Some big valleys through there. Bet it was awesome though.

    I know a road by Benbow used to connect to Boulder road too. can still get within like a mile of it but the mountain has disintegrated.

    I was told it was a 2-3 day trip. I’ve also been on that Bennie trail. Pretty views but not that technical.
