Rookie mistake. Playing the stereo and charging my phone with the bed outlet. I was playing it most of the day yesterday but started it randomly to make sure the battery was good. This morning played music and went to go start it. Nothing but clicks.

Mike, if you are in Boze and have the time swing by and I can test your battery and if healthy, fully recharge it.

I thought so but you never know, I'm just down the road. Would of been glad to help, but it sounds like you have it handled.

Yeah man I appreciate I! I'll have to let you guys know when we have more time to plan.

I'll definitely have to look into this. A stupid mistake cost me a lot of money. Ive never had issues before. Now I know.

I agree with Lisa, a charged jump starter can be used in parallel to jump start a healthy discharged car battery. Another solution is to use an isolated dual battery set up that are used in most emergency vehicles and some RVs. Your "dry camping" and other heavy electrical loads can be powered from an isolated deep cycle battery leaving the isolated starting battery to start the engine. If your total power requirements exceed your charging system's capability, you might need to beef it up or "opportunity" charge the batteries. A common problem with discharged wet starting batteries is cell reversal or freezing.

It's likely if you have a deep cycle battery its not fully charging. Most require a higher voltage than our alternators provide to get a 100% charge.

I appreciate the input. I'm considering getting a yellow top or another "good" battery and throwing my old battery on to the trailer. So that way I have that to run accessories. Possibly looking into a solar charger. Im pretty prepared when it comes to everything else but now I see why I'd rather have it and not need it vs need it and not have it

I've have to price everything out as well. I know the jump box will probably be the cheapest solution.

Agreed that a jump starter will be less expensive solution. Since you are living in MT, be sure that the jump starter will produce or exceed the CCA that your engine requires for jump starts in the Winter. If you lived in hot climate, CCA rating would not be as important.

    Will do!

Had to make a stop at Five Guys here in Bozeman before we head back to Great Falls. We need better burger places.

I keep one of these in my truck. Never used it on my truck but I've used it 3 times for others. Works really well.
