    Sheesh that sucks.

Comes with the territory when you moved to a place where a lot of people move too with little snow experience I suppose

It was a idiot who had 4wd but was too lazy to engage it. He goes man I was about to pull over and put it in 4wd but I didn’t... funny part is I was heading into Bozeman to get pizza and halfway there I decided it was too icy and didn’t want to get in a wreck so I turned around to head home. Just my luck.

I was on I90 Saturday heading west to Absorkee for a hunt when a lifted dodge with stupid wide tires passed everyone at about 75mph on completely ice sheeted roads. Heard later about a yard sale on the side of the highway around the bend a few miles down the road. Not sure if he made it.

A bit later up in the forest near Luther I was about run of the road by some hunters hauling ass through there. I missed a tree during overcorrect by about 3 inches. Decided I had enough excitement at that point and creeped home.

Most of the time out here it’s the other guy that creates the problem.

Yeah this is my first winter on 285's (Falken AT3W). Had 255's the last two winters (Cooper ST Maxx). I'm still getting used to the wider tire. Granted it's an entirely different tread too. Don't feel as confident yet. With my Coopers I could bomb down the interstate without fear. They truly did amazingly well.

The other day I was heading down Gooch Hill just north of Huffine on my way to work. Road was somewhat icy. As I approached the stop light I lifted my foot off the gas pedal. Truck immediately tried to go sideways. I managed to correct safely and straighten out just in time to begin my braking so I could stop at the light.

With deep ditches on both sides of the road and a stop light ahead my heart skipped a couple beats. LOL And I was only doing like 35!

Interesting. The maxxes never impressed me with their snow performance. Too hard of a compound. Have heard theat3w is supposed to be great though.

Nothing beats just getting real winter tires. That's what I'm doing this year. Not worth the risk.

I could not have been happier (aside from purchase cost) with the ST MAXX tires. They freaking rocked. I beat the crap out of them on rocks and such. Faired well in mud. Snow. Rock. Dirt. Gravel. Etc.

I bombed from Bozeman to Coeur d'Alene at 75mph pretty much the whole way. It was -20F in Bozeman and Coeur d'Alene and the roads were fairly packed snow. Never felt nervous the whole way. Albeit that sounds really stupid... but the track was freaking solid the whole way.

I'm still building confidence with these new tires. Obviously the wider tread pattern reduces ice traction.

No doubt they are hearty. I've beat mine bad. Just never thought the snow performance was all that great. My hankook ATMs on my other truck do much better

It’s crazy how subjective tire opinions can be. I thought my STMaxx were the best performing AT I’ve had in the snow and ice, and I think the AT3w I have now are pretty subpar. I guess there’s a lot of variables

Any good recommendations for body shops in Bozeman area? Need to get the sequoia inspected after the dodge hit me.
    Thanks.

It is remarkable what real snow tires will do. Would recommend!
