I saw on IH8Mud that the concern is over the Recommended Wilderness Areas. The plan is proposing no motorized access to the RWA's. Normally until an area is designated as wilderness (literal act of congress) motorized travel is allowed. That said the RWA areas don't appear to be that significant except in the Snowies section. If you go to the link and click each specific area there is a map that shows RWA if it is proposed in each section. https://www.fs.usda.gov/detail/hlcnf/landmanagement/planning/?cid=fseprd738976

Nice thanks for posting all that info. Im going to go through it tonight.

The thing I saw as talking about that point that they were going to restrict access with it not being actual Wilderness.

The maps are generally worthless just like the FWP Block management maps without showing towns ,existing roads and other landmarks. Would it be that hard to add an additional layer to the maps...

Agree it would be very easily added and a much better explanation of what is happening if they showed the existing road network so you could see what was being lost.

Been having a pretty decent spring and early summer this year! Done quite a bit of exploring around Red Lodge and have caught some awesome fish! Not much snow up on the pass... Hiked to line lake and it was pretty dismal. Heading to Keyser Brown this weekend. And next I'm heading to Sylvan lake to chase Golden Trout! said to be one of the purest strain outside of California!

Good luck! That's a hell of a hike. But really pretty up there. Pack light. I need to get back into fishing.

Im debating on whether to hike up on a Friday and stay the night, or just leave early Saturday morning for a day trip. Either way it’s gonna be a burner.

It's steep as fuck for sure. But once your on top it's not bad. But yeah. It's a burner. Crow lake is gorgeous too.

Happy 4th everybody, just moved up here a week ago and I'm glad I made it up in time for independence day. You guys go nuts with the fireworks here in Butte. Kinda feel sorry for the animals, but it's a great show. Cheers!

yeah....been a while since i've seen the show in Butte. Used to be a favorite thing of mine to go up on the hill and watch it. Now I'm more content to head for the hills and avoid fireworks altogether! Just got back from 6 days camping and was happy to see all of the fireworks stands boarded up.

Anyone here in the market for a Dakine tailgate pad for bikes? Or a tonneau cover for a 3rd gen shortbed? I just put a GFC on my rig and won't need those anymore.

Anyone familiar with South Meadow Creek area (see image) outside Ennis? Going to take a ride up to the lake on Saturday I think, just wondering if there is anything I should know. If you are familiar with the road that goes up to the mining(?) remnants would like to hear about that. Looks pretty good and accessible and like it gets into some high terrain.

Yeah the kiddos like their chalk art, that's the latest installment.

Definitely camp in all conditions. Mostly hail this year.

I'm assuming the above response was to my question...

I was just wondering what made you pick the GFC over other platforms. I keep reading/hearing complaints about leaks and faulty hinges/panels on GFCs.
