Yeah, I have heard some of that too, but since they're local I figured if something does break it's pretty easy to get it fixed. I just like the simplicity of the design and the functionality that I still have on the truck vs a slide-in. No need to upgrade suspension or worry about GVW.

I haven't had it out in rain yet, I'll report back once it's been in some inclement weather. It'll definitely be used hard in hunting season so I imagine it'll see some rain/snow then.

I’ve taken the lower trail of your map. It’s pretty narrow and has some large boulders. Made it up to the lake on 33” tires with minor use of skids. Had to tow a fella who had broken down on his way up. Trail is not wide enough to pass another vehicle.

Edit: don’t run out of gas or battery Juice out there. Someone on here had to spend some $$ getting serviced out there.

Cut & broke off stuff. Prolific ziptie and tape usage.
If it is the trail i am thinking of... There were some narrow spots due to fallen trees and a rock slide area that to cross when i went up that way a couple years back. Good skids and tires would have been ok i think. (I was in a ford expedition that wasn't mine so we parked at a fork and walked on to mine and then the lake)

edit: I looked back at my garmin record from that hike. I parked at that fork and then walked the road all the way to the lake. I didn't check out the other direction from the fork. This was up there along the way.

and stay away from the edge while drive up there.

Any of you Bozeman guys have a 3D printer? Working on an idea for something...right now I'm just picking up odds and ends from the hardware store to get a rough prototype pieced together. If what I want to make actually works I want to make a more refined version of it.

Its not a bad trail but once you get near the top, not many places to turn around. Gets rocky near the top of S Meadow Creek. I had a bad experience and killed my battery while camping at the top of the lake. I always carry a jumper box now. I was also towing my 5x8 trailer up there so you should be fine.

Thanks for the replies. I was just planning to drive up and back no camping or anything so I wasn't worried about the battery. I have a winch and recovery boards if needed but no jumper box.

Haven't decided exactly when we are leaving from Bozeman yet but if anyone is interested let me know and we can try to coordinate.

I got a battery jumper right after reading your post. Cheap insurance. Can happen to anyone.

The OE battery is garbage. I think my battery was dying prior to that. I would run my radio with the truck off for like 3 hours and it would be dead.

Have any regrets about going to a raptor? I’m leaning that way.

The higher payment is the only downfall. I'm getting 17MPG on average vs 12 on my taco, on 37s with a leveling kit, can tow my 4runner to the trails, heated and cooled seats, tons of interior space, plenty of power, same capabilities with locker in the rear and lsd up front, 80mph speed limits are doable without gear hunting. I wish I would have made the switch sooner now knowing what I was missing out on. Obviously parking is a bit more difficult but I usually park far away from everyone anyways. Also, I'm not going to wheel narrow trails like I did with my taco but I have the 4runner to do that stuff.

    Hey Montana Tacoma’s.

I need to ask a small favor in locating some Tacoma owners.

A couple days ago a white Tacoma, RTT, 33” tires, on Morrison Jeep Trail in northern WY. Jimmy and Kate are their names with a large husky/great Pyrenees dog.

If this is you, either PM me or just post in this thread. Thank you.
