Power through and do it yourself it's worth it. I did some lift kits and I'm glad I did save a lot of money and I know everything that's on my truck.

So I am looking at a 2 or 3 inch lift on my 2006 Tacoma SRT 5MT. I would love to get some opinions on which of you all think are the best ones. I don't have a ton of money budgeted but I do not want the cheapest either. So any suggestions?

What do you use your truck for or want to use your truck for and do you have anything on it currently?

Tires and slowly working in suspension upgrades would probably be my suggestion just because they're functional improvements and also get you to your end result.

OME makes solid stuff at a good price, i'm running their shocks and rear springs with Toytec front coils on my first gen and have nothing but good things to say about them. you could also look into Bilstein shocks as they're a bit more budget friendly than OME. on my last truck I ran those and had no complaints. as far as budget friendly spring options go, you could look at an AAL in the rear and new front coils. obviously doing a full replacement is ideal but isnt always an option depending on budget constraints.

Depends on your price range. The best affordable lift is OME lift kit around $1600. I have them one of my trucks and they do great jump the truck and they still work. You're going to need a new UCAs go with JBA I think they cost $560 something like that. Same thing with OME, JBA is good and affordable. Never go with spacers.

I am absolutely not disagreeing about spacer lifts but have a question. I put on a TRD Pro Fox F/R shock. I got the 1” up front and of course nothing in rear. I put in ½” block in rear to balance the rake and now is near perfect for me. I have considered multiple other spring options for rear other than than small blocks but all have too much lift (typically 1 ½”).
I don’t want additional lift f or r. Are there other decent recent rear lift options without over lifting the rear?

I do have Bilstein shocks on it now and I do like the idea of just maybe getting bigger tires for the moment and starting there. I have not done any heavy wheeling in a long time but would like to start to get back into it I feel.

I was looking around 1500 but could maybe go up to 2000. I was thinking maybe the siggestion of just going with bigger tires for the moment and starting there would be good. I am just asking for suggestions as it seems alot of folks throw a 2 inch lift on quite a bit.

Well I have Bilstein shocks on there now but the more I read the responses I wonder if I am not being an idiot and realizing I probably have a good setup for the moment until I start getting more on the back country and see what my limitations are. Thanks for the great suggestions.

I will check those out. I am wondering if I should not just get off road some and see what would be a good approach. I have not been serious wheeling in awhile so I would not want to get to crazy right away anyways. I bought my Taco since I have heard they were so great for 4wheeling and I will say what I have done I love it! I am at a point in my life I have some free time to start doing some fun stuff again so I want to try it! I will look those up and I thank you for your advice. :)

I prefer the OME shocks over Billies by far. I think they're well worth the price difference. But shocks are a wear part. Drive em hard and you'll be ready for an upgrade in 60k miles.

Also, another thing to do is go with the expensive lift (would go Fox) and slowly buy parts one by one if you have time and money. Each way if you want to get in to off-road it's so much fun but it will always be an expensive hobby.
