Been planning to move to Kalispell since summer 2019, after my MT/ID overlanding trip.

Definitely less people here then and real estate prices weren't as crazy.

But I had already made my mind up I was moving just had to find an engineering job.

Still better than any place in the East even the mountains of NC where I moved from and still have a house.

Real estate is crazy in WNC as well so I'll get top dollar for my house to sink in an overpriced house here, oh well.

Never imagined I could find a good paying engineering job in Kalispell so I take that as this was meant to be.

My wife is an Orthopedic PA so she will have no problem finding a job here.

Yeah I'm terrified of shit like that happening. Or going over budget and getting screwed.

I know a guy that bought 25 acres up around Kalispell in 18 or 19, he paid around $10,000 an acre and I remember thinking that seemed a bit expensive. God did he make out like a bandit in hindsight.

It isn't going to get much better after the framing. EVERYTHING is a nightmare right now. Good luck getting electricians and HVAC there in a reasonable amount of time, and pray to god your HVAC and other appliances are available. Basic fittings/piping etc are getting hard to find. Even propane tanks are months out right now. And if you get lucky and find all that stuff, it is all at a premium. I never thought I would hope for things to slow down, but I'm in that boat right now.

Is there an MT bs thread or something similar? Accepted a job offer in Billings and plan to go there from SW Louisiana at the end of the month and feel like bsing with the locals.

This is the closest thing to it. The Montana chatter is pretty quiet for the most part. I know that the Wyoming BS thread is a lot more active, and has a lot of MT folks in there.

They (kicked me out/asked me to leave) MT several decades ago. I now live vicariously through this thread. Be nice!

BTW, is the P66 refinery what was the Exxon refinery?

    Large, welcome to Billings!

Lurkin, no P66 was Conoco Refinery. Then ConocoPhillips and now P66.
