Glacier is hardcore middle of nowhere. Bring food and provisions with you from the South. Browning is kind of close, but the food pickings are slim and expensive.

You can’t visit MT/WY without going to Yellowstone. Cody, WY runs a rodeo over the summer. Ironically the day I rolled through, it was raining, so can’t speak to how it is. But sounds like a cool experience.

Let others chime in. I’m far from an expert on the region.

Definitely planning to hit a rodeo a night we're in the area! We also love the unbeaten paths. Obviously going to spend 1 day seeing the park since we're close by but we don't mind seeing the land on the outskirts.

Did you end up finding a set? If not I have a set of 4 without tires that have been off the truck for a few years now. Located in Bozeman

Anybody familiar with how trust lands work? On my way back from Wise River today I saw some people out shooting on the Buxton Frontage road going into Butte, but I didn't know if that was someone's private land or if anyone can go out there and poke some holes. I've seen a lot of people shooting out there on other occasions, but I've never checked it out myself. After looking at a land management map it looks like it's in that little light blue square which the legend shows as "MT State Trust Lands". On the DNRC website it says you need to pay for a pass or license to use these lands for recreation, but it hardly seems like a gulch off the side of a frontage road is a real recreation area. If you have any idea how this stuff works, or better yet, you've been there, I'd appreciate any insight. I'll go check it out myself sooner or later, but just setting up shop and shooting stuff in unknown land is never a good idea.

Drove past there on Friday, trust lands are just another name for State land. You pay for the rec pass as part of your vehicle registration. Cadastral and OnX are your friends on that.

As for that spot. I don't know if I want the hassle of out of staters or canadians calling the SO on me not understanding that is permittable behavior.

Good to know. Considering it seems to be a relatively popular spot, I don't think I'd get hassled too much if anyone were to make a call. I'll just have to try to drop by when I notice someone out there next time.

there's also the trap club in opportunity. open to the public. little bit more of a drive from butte but a legal/safe option.

Do they also have rifle or pistol ranges, or is it just trap shooting? We have a trap only range here in Butte, but I feel so silly out there with an 18" Defense oriented 870 while everyone else has their over under 30"+ choked trap guns. Just an excuse to grow the collection I suppose haha.

High Ore Gunclub south of Boulder is a great option too. Especially if you like or have wanted to shoot steel matches.

I've never really done any competitive shooting, but it's always nice to have more options for ranges. I didn't even think we had any ranges that did comps around here, but that might be something to get into.

Anyone have good suggestions for a tune shop in Bozeman? Just installed the urd equal length long tube headers and built an exhaust for it with not cats. Got to get rid of that check engine.
