Haha that cause most of the counties here are the size of small states. I believe you could do 9-10 hours or so in Montana going from the south west side of the state to the north east side of the state and never leave pavement. At highway speed.

Gates is cool, I really enjoy spending time around the big belts.

I'm up in Kalispell. Its roughly 9 hours of driving to Glendive and neither of those is at the border. All above the posted 8o mph! Glendive is roughly the half way point to my in-laws in Central Minnesota.

just got back from boulder river valley. Road is mostly in good shape, rough towards the end. Didn't run Independence this go around but hope to this summer. If I can make it that is. Was pretty bad last time I went.

Did you get to the last camp site? Is it drivable with a small pull RV? We try to make it out there at least once per summer, but last year we didn’t venture there due to the flooding.

yep thats where we stayed. Had the place to ourselves. We went up the trail and hiked to east boulder river crossing.

you could make it, it's not that bad but it'll be pretty darn slow going the last 3-6 miles. Just pot holes everywhere. It looked like maybe they were going to grade it soon.

of course they ran Fiber the whole way down...jesus christ haha. Pisses me off. They are running fiber to the middle of no where but not up by me and the hundreds of people that live here...sheesh.

I live in MD but we just did a road trip to Montana and back in the truck. Kalispell was the farthest point we reached from home. I saw your post and had to drop a line to say you live in a beautiful place!

I actually have a necklace hanging from my rear view mirror now that I bought at a store there on the main drag through town.

Can you all get the rain to stop please? I head to the Bighorn on Thursday to start fishing Friday and the river is running at 16.7-17K CFS and we're not going out in that.....

Take the Kings Hill Route after stopping for a soak/swim in White Sulphur Springs. About a mile past the summit at Kings hill you can take Divide road (unpaved forest service road with some great views and a nice drive) all the way into Great Falls, stop at the American Bar in Stockett as you go through if it is open for some food/drinks. You can check out the Lewis and Clark interpretive Center in Great Falls, and Giant Springs state park just down the road, check out the damns and falls as well. From there you can continue on to Glacier Via I15 to US 89 that will take you up the east side of the Great Divide into Browning.

That's a good call, I haven't sent a whole lot of time in that piece of Montana, we are/were at this rate planning to do a fairies trip through that area and end it at sleeping buffalo in Malta.

Depends on how we feel like going and who we are visiting first! Most of the time we drop down thru Seeley and hit 90 north of Deer Lodge. Sometimes we go cross country and hit 94 at Billings or east.
