Also when you get the code/permit for the Rincon trail it's good for 2 weeks (doesn't cost anything - Ranger said the forest adventure pass the website says is necessary is not needed unless you plan on parking out there to hike or camp). They change the lock combo every couple weeks. They give you a sticker to put on your rearview mirror.

Kind of odd steps to have to take to run a fire road, though.

I think they do that because they are hunting grounds. When I ran it the ranger asked me if I had a dog with me lol.

Don't follow me, you won't make it

Accutune already sent me the $9k quote for the full upgrade package haha. For now, not too much. Maybe a couple lights (Already has a locker, so no #LightbarsBeforeLockers) and exhaust, then a few suspension mods/maintenance. It feels like driving a marshmallow right now.

I'm going to be out of town for xmas through the end of next week but maybe at the beginning of the new year we can plan a trip up there with a few of us. It's really just a fire road but it is pretty scenic with some good spots to pull over and hang out, have a beer/eat lunch, take some photos etc. Maybe by then they'll have the full 25 miles of the trail opened back up and not just the first 10

Is this road a 1 way trip? Where does it exit ? 25 miles, I’m thinking out by Lytle Creek ? Or is it a big loop?

It goes the other way, starts right by the Azusa OHV park and goes up into the San Gabriels then heads north toward the Santa Clarita valley. I think it dumps out somewhere around there, there are more fire roads back there too that eventually lead into the SCV. Used to romp around those all the time when I was younger maybe 15 years ago but a lot of those roads are gated off now, so I'm not entirely sure were the Rincon dumps out or if you have to go back through the same entrance.

Right now since only the first 10 miles are open you have to turn back and go out the way you came in

I seem to remember a trail that run from Glendora to Lytle Creek. But that was 30 years ago. Memory is not as good as it use to be. Does anyone know if there is such a trail , fire road?

I can't find a map with both Lytle Creek and the Rincon on it so I drew my own, lol. Rincon Trail is in red

It looks like the Rincon eventually dumps out on the 2 highway near Mt. Wilson actually

    Screen Shot 2019-12-17 at 11.58.44 AM.png

I know there used to be more fire roads that connected it from the SCV many years ago...shame that they gated them all off but people probably left too much trash up there + the fire hazard I guess

This true. I do remember a lot of trash up there. I can remember just going up into Azusa Canyon and it being clean. Watched over the years more and more trash on the roadside.
