There are others coming (to my knowledge) that aren't doing White Mountain but are doing the other trails that go around Big Bear (fire roads and such).

I don't want to dissuade anyone from doing anything but I do want to make sure everyone knows what they might be getting into...I've done White Mtn several times and with a stock truck I can say 100% it will be hard if not impossible to avoid dragging/banging the underside of the truck on certain parts of the trail. There are several line options along the trail and I can't say I've done them all, but each time I've done it I've made use of the lift I have and on a few occasions even my steel skid plate (with the lift) and my sliders.

I'd just rather be up front about it than be the reason someone ends up doing something they wish they hadn't. White Mountain is a great trail to get your feet wet on with moderate 4x4'ing, but in most cases moderate 4x4'ing requires some modifications to these trucks, unless you're OK with the possibility of trail damage.

I was interested in less technical trails since I’m on a stock 4x4 OR. But knowing about the rain and reading about what mud can do to the truck if not properly washed I think I’m going to skip out on this run.
Maybe there can be something planned soon where we can have a mix of technical and easy trails.
Hopefully by next year I can have a lift and armor added to my truck.

For those still going out on Saturday be safe and have fun!

Here's a good link on White Mountain for anyone interested in what the trail is like...you might have to make an account to read it (it's free). I recommend making an account there because they have a lot of good info on trails.

    https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/830-3n17-white-mountain

Some reviews from others on White Mountain from the link...

    - I took my STOCK 2018 wrangler unlimited base RENTAL( LOL I know) to this trail coming down from big bear, it was my mistake because I thought I was on 3n14( original plan) for a while. We were so lucky we made it down in one piece, without damage. Downhill on 3N17 is way easier than uphill. I do not recommend inexperienced drivers and this trail should not be travel on your own. Great scenery, defiantly will comeback with prepared rig.

    - Had a challenging and fun time on this trail. This was my third time off-road and made it through with a friend spotting some of the more difficult areas. I am in a 18' GC Trailhawk and was with an 18' Tacoma off-road and 16 Wrangler 2-door. The Wrangler had a pretty easy time for most of the trail. The Tacoma and I had to pick our lines a but more delicately.

    - Very nice and challenging trail. Good for intermediate drivers. Lots of rocks so keep an eye out or you might accidentally hit your sidewall or axle. Managed to make it up Suicide Hill in my stock TJ w/ 31s but I probably wont do that again. Dont forget to stop by the summit to take in the views.

And keep in mind we'll be doing it in the rain

I'm going to plan another run. I'm thinking mid summer sometime when we know for sure the weather will be nice. I'll keep everyone that was originally going on this who aren't going this weekend posted on when I figure out a plan. Total bummer about the weather. I'm not going up either since mud is not my thing.

I have a hard time believing a stock Jeep made it up Suicide Hill lol, must have been a good driver (Suicide Hill is incredibly steep with drop-offs, hence the name). It's got an easy bypass around it though.

I think it would be awesome to plan this type of trip again at a later date. Just let anyone come along, pick an easy and a moderate trail, and split up according to the drivers.

Ya it sucks cause I was hoping we'd get to do that this time around but the weather kind of fubar'ed the original plans.

Do we still want to try and do a lunch after the trail this Sat? I usually just bring food and drinks for along the way and with the rain I don't know if a bbq will be feasible in the afternoon, maybe every one just bring something pre-made and we can stop on the trail and eat or eat afterward depending on time

Hey guys, a few noob questions:

    1. I want to do WM and meet most of the requirements except for the stock plate, will that be ok? Also, recently I noted a small rubbing on the driver side when fully turning left so not sure if this will affect me? I have 295s Ridge Grappler tires. I did Palomar Divide which is pretty easy trail and rubbed very little.
    2. Anyone that will be driving close by the 15, 60 or 91 freeways (Eastvale, Corona, Rancho area) so we can drive together? I just don’t want to get lost getting to the meet address, will using Google Maps take me to the meet spot?

Yea, bringing sandwiches/snacks is my plan. I don't think a meetup/bbq on the trail is very feasible with the rain. I might be down to go somewhere after for a beer or something, but we'll have to see what time we're off the trail, since I have loose plans later in the afternoon/evening.

I have a stock skid plate, and planning on doing WM. With those tires and 4x4, you should be ok, you'll probably scrape something underneath, but as long as your not mobbing and slam it, you'll be fine.

Just drop a pin at that location in maps, and it will navigate you there.

I’m going to be staying at the bottom of the hill in highland Friday night so if you want to meet somewhere around there we can cruise up together. I plan on taking the 330 up it will probably take us around 45 minutes to get up the mountain with the rain so I was going to leave around 8-8:15 to be on the safe side and give us plenty of time to air down and such...

That’s the plan. Mid summer is what I am aiming for. A lot of people wanted in on this so with good planning and timing we can definitely make this happen again.

Highland is a city off of the 215fwy and route 330 is also located off of the 215fwy

People who live in this area or High Desert say " headed down the hill" or "headed up the hill" ..... this means traveling up / down the mtn passes such as the Cajon pass , hwy 138 , route 330 , hwy 18 or hwy 38
