Monthly So Cal Off-Road Run

Yeah since it was already at the shop I just had them swap the CV. Sucks because I sold the CVJ axles I had sitting, because I have 3.5+ dirt king axles waiting for a kit, I needed 1 more year out of the axle lol. But oh well, truck is back in the driveway with a new axle and hopefully brake lines that are long enough, I'm gonna load it up tonight. Bringing extra coolant because it's supposed to be hellish tomorrow. It was 90 degrees when I dropped the truck off at 8:30am so I expect it to be in the hundreds by 11am.

 

@Nicklovin so the plan is to meet at the Pilot Rock staging area at 8am tomorrow yea?

 

I’m shooting to be at cleghorn tomorrow with a blue Fj and a Jeep. May reroute to pilot rock if my friends flake and or if the trails closed due to the fire. Waiting to hear their response by tonight....and checking map updates

Anywho, 8am at pilot rock staging area? I’ll monitor this thread and may tag along if I’m running solo by the AM.

Thanks but no thanks, I'm coming from HB and I gotta make a quick drop off along the way so I'll probably be racing just to catch up haha. Maybe I'll catch up to you guys on the highway, keep an eye out for a green 1st gen

 

I'll do my best to be there by 8 but give me like a 20 min. window...gotta pack my tools and gear into the truck in the AM and grab gas/snacks/beer on the way. And we have a 7 month old baby that likes to wake up 2 - 3 times a night lol. Gonna hit the hay here in about an hour

 

No worries man. I'll be surprised if I'm on time, usually I don't wake up until 8 since work has me starting at 9 recently
Think I got all my tools, straps, traction boards, recovery hitch, air..... ooo I should go throw a shovel and some coolant in real quick

 

I always pack all most of my tools for just about any trip... Rather be over prepared than under. I'll aim to be there no later than 815 if not earlier though

 

That's a good rule to live by. I've been working on organizing all my offroad stuff so I can just grab everything easily at once and go. No rush, I'm sure we'll be airing down and bsing for half an hour

 

The only thing worse than packing it up in the morning is unpacking it after I get home

 

first aid kit, wd40, fire extinguisher, make sure winch works, inspect truck all around before going, tools incase breakdown

I probbly wont go, gotta go to Venice beach its wayyyy to hot i might pass out spotting someome

 

That's the great part about having a different car as a daily, I just leave the stuff in the truck for a week or so until I feel like dealing with it

 

I don't trust people enough to leave my stuff in the truck lol.

 

Fair, I live in a gated community and know all my neighbors so I'm comfy
It's funny most of them drive mercedes, bmw, etc but all the older guys love my truck. Keeps the HOA from fining me hahaha
