I have only done pretty basic stuff so I am still pretty new to offroading. Just went to sandstone canyon over the weekend and it was pretty fun!

I see you are form Irvine, I'm in Mission viejo.
Me and a few friends are all local and will be doing a multi day trip to KOH Feb 3rd-6th.

Start in orange county, then to cleghorn, silverwood like, pilot Rock, arrowhead (if the snow clears), then into johnson valley.

Might do calico and Dumont Dunes if arrowhead still has snow.

    All are welcome to join!
We all have stock or close to it trucks/FJs

Those who have recently gone up Coxey rd to fawn skin in big bear — @Superdave1.0 , others?

How deep was the snow around New Years?

I’m spending the next few days in big bear, and would love to take that on up instead of the highway.

I’m 2wd, but have chains. Experienced driving in winter/snow my whole life.
Think the snow would still be too deep ?
Maybe take it back down instead of the way up.

When are you coming up Sterling? I haven’t been out in a few weeks so I’m not sure of the depth but you know I’m happy to drag you up through the trails if need be hahah

@DarthPow and I went up via Coxey to Fawnskin that weekend... The wasn't much snow at all until we got to Big Pine Flats, from there to Fawnskin there was enough snow on the trail that I wouldn't advise 2wd at all, chains or not.

But it's been dry and warm since then. They're could still be a fair amount of snow where the shadowy sides of the trail are, or worse yet ice... Depends on how cold it's been up there I guess. Probably a lot mud and water pits from the melted snow. I certainly wouldn't go alone if you're gonna go on it in 2wd. It gets real muddy up there when the snow melts

I'd be driving up tomorrow AM, probably going up the mountain mid/late morning to around noon.

Ty for the report.. I would be going up alone (do have 4 buddies to help dig if need be )

Maybe go up 2n40 if its open just for the heck of it
