If you wanted we could meet up somewhere along the 55... Although I'm not quite sure what time I'll be leaving. Gotta pickup a friend who might make me late

I put my cell # on the Google doc, if anyone gets caught up in traffic or anything shoot me a text so we know how long to wait before we head from the meetup spot to White Mountain.

From the meetup spot it's about 10 miles via a network of fire roads to get to the WM trailhead, so I'd rather we all did it as a group and not leave anyone to do it solo.

Let's aim to leave the meetup spot by 930 at the latest, but text me if you're running behind

Traffic going up the 330 into Big Bear starts to get really heavy in the morning on weekends....I go up there frequently and usually if my GPS says an hour and a half when I leave, by the time I get to the base of the mountain it adds another half hour or so as traffic starts to back up.

Also if anyone else is OK with sharing your cell # on the Google doc please do, the more we have the better...I have Sprint and reception tends to suck up there lol.

lol just want to make sure everyone's aware of how traffic gets going up into Big Bear on the weekends, I don't know how much snow is still up there but if the ski slopes are still open then traffic can get really gnarly.

Few months ago I was headed to the same spot we are tomorrow to do the fire roads with my wife and her dad riding in my truck...we got gas at the Chevron at the bottom of Big Bear and it literally took us an hour and a half to go ~10 miles up the mountain to the Green Valley Rd exit. That was New Year's Day weekend though.

Doing that shit on a steep road in bumper/bumper traffic with a manual transmission/clutch is no fun, let me tell you.

Wow, fingers crossed. Yaaaa fuck that with a clutch. Actually I have a similar experience, not as bad but when I first bought the miata and I was still learning stick I had never driven further then work. Maybe 20 mins away, I was feeling spirited one day and drove all the way up big bear. Learn or die right hahaha. That climb was a fun challenge

yeah I doubt it will be anywhere near that bad tomorrow, but it's hard to tell. I mean there is that big Jeep thing going on too so we have to keep that in mind. But I think my wife and I literally picked the busiest day of the entire year to try and go up there that time, lol.

For real, I've driven nothing but manuals since I was 18 (almost 17 years now) and the 1st gen Tacoma clutch is one of the most difficult when it comes to handling hills, at least in 2wd. Has next to no 'grab' to it, you can't rely on feathering it to pull you along in traffic like you can on most manual cars/sedans. Or maybe my truck is just too heavy and I need a better clutch haha.
